FP4 Plus from Ilford is a traditional medium-speed black and white negative film characterized by a fine grain structure with high acutance and sharpness, making it well-suited to enlarging and scanning. It has a nominal sensitivity of ISO 125/22° in standard chemistry, and its very wide exposure latitude enables exposing up to two stops under or six stops over while retaining usable results. In addition to general photographic applications, FP4 Plus is also an ideal choice for copy and internegative work, as well as scientific, technical, and industrial photography.

This item is one box of 100 sheets of 4 x 5" film.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work in 4 3/4 x 6 1/2 in film holders?

A: This size of film will have to be cut down to the size you need.

Q: 2. is it a fresh film?

A: B&H buys and sells film in bulk. In general we regularly maintain fresh film stock. All of our film is at least 6 months from expiration (typically much longer). Anytime film stock is less than 6 months from expiration we sell it in a separate section and label it as short-dated film and also price it with a slight discount (again due to the volumes we sell this rarely occurs). Unfortunately we do not have access to our inventory to hand inspect the expiration date of any of our films prior to purchase.

Q: 3. Will the film give me a positive or a negative of the image?

A: in normal development it is negative, if you really want a positive you can send it to dr5.

Q: 4. manufacturing date ?

Q: 5. How flat is this film when using a flat bed scanner? Does it had a strong curl?

A: FP4 has a transparent purple base. It does scan well on a flatbed with a rear light element but you will want to white balance the base if scanning in color before printing.

Q: 6. Does all the film come in a single bag, or are there multiple bags inside of the box of 100?

A: Four bags x 25 sheets each.

Q: 7. is it 35mm film ?

A: No, this is the 120/medium format version of Ilfordd FP4. You can find the 35mm version here:https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?N=10024661&InitialSearch=yes&sts=suggestions-pi&typedValue=ilford+fp target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?N=10024661&InitialSearch=yes&sts=suggestions-pi&typedValue=ilford+fp/a

Q: 8. How long does it usually take to ship?

A: You may calculate your actual shipping options/order totals by adding the items you want to a shopping cart. It will then list the shipping options, descriptions, ETA's and fees to your location.

Q: 9. How many rolls of film are in a box

A: The amount of exposures and rolls you can get from the FP4 Plus 35mm 100' Roll would in part depend on how you load the cassettes. That being said, you can typically fill 15-18 empty canisters from a 100 roll. If you are looking for pre-loaded 35mm cassettes, then we cary the options on the following link: http://bhpho.to/ZJrDkk

Q: 10. Is it okay to open the box in daylight? Are the film sheets protected enough inside the wrappers in the box?

A: I would advise against opening a box of film in daylight.

When it comes to slow B&W film, I have been happily shooting Delta 100, before I decided to try something new. On paper, FP4+ is inferior to Delta because it's an older classic emulsion. Usually this means larger grain (bad) and more exposure latitude (good). To be honest, the grain difference is minimal and its structure is quite pleasant. I never wet-print. I scan my B&W negatives with a digital camera. Delta 100 is a bit contrastier but the difference disappears when post-processing anyway. I actually find FP4+ a bit easier to work with, for some reason it requires fewer adjustments: its default curve is very close to what I like.

This is only my second roll of film since I started shooting film again after a 15 year break. After shooting a roll of Acros II, I was ready to end my analog resurgence because I found Acros to be low contrast, dull and muddy. I found FP4 Plus to be far superior to Acros II. FP4 Plus has much better contrast and grain structure.
