The plastic Vantec Dual 2.5" to 3.5" HDD/SSD Mounting Kit lets you easily mount up to two 2.5" HDDs or SSDs up to 9.5mm thick in a single 3.5" drive bay. It also supports mounting a single 12.5mm-thick 2.5" drive. It features universal mounting holes and comes with screws for installation.

A: This docking station is not a RAID controller.

Q: 5. Do it support cloning drives offline?

A: No, the StarTech USB 3.1 Dual-Bay Dock for 2.5"/3.5" SATA SSDs/HDDs BH #STSDOCK2U313 is not a standalone duplicator. It needs to be connected to a computer if you want to be able to clone a drive.

A: yes this will support both 5400 rpm and 7200 rpm.

A: Drives do get warm. So I use a surplus 5" box fan to cool drives. Makes a big difference. You can also place near an air conditioner.

Q: 8. What is the largest drive size (in terms of TB) this unit can support? I have an older StarTech and it cannot be used with drives over 2TB.

A: I use 6TB drives in this.

Q: 9. hi what is the maximum drive copy size for this dock can it take a 8tb drive can these dock accept any drive bigger than 6tb thanks?

A: The StarTech USB 3.0/eSATA to Dual 2.5/3.5" HDD/SSD Docking Station with UASP BH #STSDOCK2U33E is currently tested with up to 4TB drives according to Startech. We could not guarantee that a larger drive would work 100%.

A: The drives cannot be raided.

The bracket can hold 2 drives. However, they're so close your cables might not be flexible enough. The bracket is easy to use, and for SSDs there's really no reason to screw anything in. 5

Made of plastic, but not flimsy at all. Fits my Samsung SSD perfectly, and fits in the 3.5 drive tray of my computer case without issue. The nice thing about this is it can fit 2 SSD's, which is really nice for not having to use up another drive bay if space is already limited. 5
