Get started in the world of wide-angle macro photography with the Laowa 15mm f/4 Macro Lens for full-frame Sony E-mount cameras from Venus Optics. Before now, wide-angle macro required the use of extension tubes and other workarounds, but now the Laowa 15mm Macro offers true 1:1 magnification without the hassle. The ultra-wide perspective on full-frame cameras allows you to get exceptionally close to your subjects and have them fill the frame with a minimum focus distance of just 4.7", while still capturing the background for more informative scenes. Internal focusing further assists by not disturbing your subject, even when you reach the 0.2" minimum working distance.

Optically, it is designed to minimize distortion that plagues wide-angle lenses with the use of an advanced 12 element in nine groups construction with one extra-low dispersion and three high-refractive elements. A multilayer low-reflective coating further improves image quality by reducing the appearance of flare and ghosting. Also, when used on APS-C cameras or in crop modes the lens offers +/- 6mm of vertical shift which can help correct for perspective when shooting objects such as buildings.

Full manual operation is required with this lens through the use of a physical aperture ring with a range of f/4 to f/32 and a large focusing ring. The lens has a flat front element with a 77mm front filter thread for using a selection of specialized filters to enhance your scene. It also has a near circular 14-blade diaphragm for smooth out of focus elements and comes with a lens hood.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The screw/tab thing on the bottom by the cap, what is it?

A: If you are referring to the lever at the end of the lens closest to the camera, that is for shift. It is not a tilt/shift lens but works a little like one. You can shift the lens in one direction up to about 6mm.

Q: 2. Is this lens compatible with Canon 7d mark ii?

A: Yes. It covers full-frame and a bit more, so I can shift a little. You'll get even more benefit from it's shift function than I do, with your APS sensor.I'm also amazed at how close it focuses.

Q: 3. could this lens be useful for landscape photography?

A: This lens is not recommended for landscape photography, it is excellent for macro photography with clear background, this company has a 15 mm f2 lens which is good and recommended for landscape photography

Q: 4. Will this lens work on an EOS R Camera?

A: Yes, with the Canon EF to R adapter. You can view the adapter on our website by clicking the link below; https://bhpho.to/37mRYJy

Q: 5. Is this Len comp with Nikon d5100,7100&7200 cameras ?

A: yes, but it is all manual

Q: 6. At infinity focus, how far out from the bayonet does the rear element extend? Or more to the point, has anyone tried to use this lens in K mount at infinity on a Canon full frame dslr? Any trouble with the Canon's mirror hitting the rear element?I'm hoping I can buy this lens in PK mount and use it on both a Pentax dslr and a Canon 5D. Since this lens has a manual aperture, there's no auto aperture lever extending from the bayonet which would hit the 5D's mirror. So, in theory, I should be able to use this lens in K mount on a Canon 5D just by using a simple PK to Canon adapter.Unless the rear element / housing extends too far out from the bayonet. Anyone know?

A: My lens is a Nikon mount so I don't know how helpful this will be.At infinity focus, the rear element's barrel back face projects approximately 3.5 mm beyond the rearmost surface of the Nikon mounting flange

Q: 7. Does this lens work on a Canon EOS Rebel T7?

A: This lens is compatible with the Canon EOS Rebel T7 with a crop factor of 1.6X applied to it.

Q: 8. This lens has a manual aperture ring, is this aperture an auto-diaphragm aperture where the lens stays at f4 even when the aperture is set to f16? Or does the view through the lens get darker (and with more depth-of-field) when you set the smaller apertures?

A: The diaphragm does close down when the aperture rig is stopped down. I have to focus at f4 and then stop down to where I want to be because the viewfinder dims so much. Overall, I'm pleased with the lens, it's built very solidly and has performed well so far.

Q: 9. The angle of view is listed as 110 deg. Is this horizontal or corner to corner?

A: Horizontal.

Q: 10. Can you mount it on Metabones x64 MTF adapter?

A: We do not see any issue to mounting this on a Metabones x64 MTF adapter and using it on a MTF camera.

I wasn't crazy about the price, but once I put it on my a7s, I was very happy. Sharp. Minimal distortion. And though I keep seeing people say it doesn't matter on a wide angle lens, the bokeh is gorgeous. Oh and a UWA with a 72mm filter thread...awesome!

This is going to replace my 14mm Bower that I've flown FOREVER. I gave the 16-35's a quick look, but they seem even more over priced. Plus there's always something special about a prime. I recommend. Happy shooting!

I bought this lens for astrophotography. On the first use I was able to capture detail on a full moon. (Yes, zoomed in). It is solidly made with metal barrel and well marked settings. I have also used for landscape shots with great results. I feel it is superior to other third market lenses I have owned.

I didn't think I would like it the first 2 hours and had planned to return it. I'm glad I didn't . I love this lens

I primarily shoot still life product in studio and wanted something that offered a different perspective than the typical 100mm macro. The lens, when used in a macro setting, can be difficult to get good looking images, but if you take the time to compose and light properly, you can achieve really interesting sizes and angles The build of the lens is very solid and for the price, it's definitely something fun to use.

Disclaimer: I am not a pixel peeper. New to the A7iii scene, I was not sure how to activate the Focus Magnifier, so my first few test shot was just trying to focus using the LCD screen, and focus peaking. No matter, the picture came out sharp (to my satisfaction) anyway. Then I found out the nearest focus distance was crazily short, so I started taking close-up shots of flowers, those came up sharp too! (The Ultra-wide angle helped to keep everything sharp). By the time I discovered how to set Focus magnifier on the A7iii, I was already sold. This thing is a keeper. Did I mention it perform quite well in low light too? Can't wait to use this for astro-photography. How much more versatile can one lens be? (Con? No EXIF. If that doesn't bother you, grab one!)

I use this lens for both interior real-estate and mountain landscapes. Works perfect and would recommend if this is what your shooting.

Once I got used to using it, which didn't take long, I realized nothing else can do what this lens can. Hopefully in the future there's an even better mark ii version for mirrorless mounts.

I spent so much time reviewing a multitude of lenses etc...then went back to what I wanted from the start and I'm loving it! Looking forward to shooting in the Serengeti with it!

Bought primarily for Astro but have used it several time for close ups with the dog and some nighttime mood shoots. Very sharp at 2.8 and above. The lens in nice and light. There is some coma around the edges, but minimal. The lens produces nice color punch.
