Changing lenses on your camera when you are in the field can cause dust and debris to land on your sensor when it is exposed. The 12-pack of Type 1 Sensor Swab Ultra from Photographic Solutions features 20mm wide swabs for APS-H sensors. They're designed to clean oil, dust, and debris.

The thick and double wrapped swab is highly absorbent, and each swab is individually packaged to maintain the purity of the swab for cleaning. The fibers of the swabs do not shed once the sensor has been swiped across.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Which pack would be best for Canon 90D? I've searched for a straight forward answer with nothing too promising.

A: The 17mm width of the Photographic Solutions Type 2 Sensor Swab Ultra (12-Pack, 17mm) is the right one for the 90D.

Q: 2. Are these swabs appropriate for the Nikon D850?

A: Yes, these are for a full frame sensor.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with a6400?

A: Yes, it is compatible with the A6400, make sure you get the liquid to go with the swabs. (PHAERO) item code.

Q: 4. Is this compatible with the Sony A7III?

A: Hi, yes, this is compatible with the A7 III.

Q: 5. Are the swabs reusable?

A: No.

Q: 6. I have a Fujifilm X-T20 and X-T3 what swab size should I get? Both are listed on type 1 (20mm) and type 3 (24mm). Please advise, thank you in advance.

A: You would want to use the type 3 on your Fuji X-T20 and X-T3.

Q: 7. Do I need to use any liquids on them?

A: Yes, the Photographic Solutions Aeroclipse Digital Sensor Cleaning Fluid, BH # PHAERO would be needed along with these swabs. https://bhpho.to/3tuTpiU

Q: 8. My Nikon D500 is a DX camera. Yet it shows up in Type 3, for full frame cameras. Is that correct?

A: Just to follow my previous reply: Photographic Solutions may have referenced all Dxxxx cameras as DX and all Dxxx cameras as FX and hence recommended Type 3 in error. The procedure is to wipe along the length rather than the width of the sensor so the swab should be close to the sensor width (shorter side). In the case of a D500, hat's 15.7mm so Type 2 (17mm) is the closest match.

Q: 9. I understand you should add sensor fluid to these, but do you need a tool to use these swabs like I see in other products?

A: The swabs are for use with fluid and no tools are necessary. Never use a swab without fluid.

Q: 10. Does this come with the Photographic Solutions box and individually sealed?

A: Yes, Photographic Solutions Type 3 Sensor Swab Ultra would include the box and the swabs are individually sealed.

When cleaning your sensor, practice makes perfect. It is not a process that promotes instantaneous success--or if it does, it won't produce the same quality results the first three times you do it. You'll use too much or too little solution, or leave a bit on the sensor by not following through on your stroke.
But, these popular swabs work well once you get your technique under control, and you'll find yourself using fewer and fewer as you do a better job. I've seen no lint coming from them, they do not promote streaks, and they work well with the PS Eclipse solution.

I didn't know anything about cleaning sensors, but this product worked for me - as advertised.

Just follow the instructions, and don't forget to shake off any extra sensor cleaning fluid before touching the sensor area.

I checked PSI website for correct swab to clean my Nikon D500. They recommended the Type 3 - 24mm you use for full frame . Don't use it. The Type 3 - 17mm swab is the best one to use for a crop sensor. I had to use 3 swabs to get the sensor really clean. There also a magnifier with a light built in you can use to view the sensor. Definitely get it . So worth the $15

I'm going on a late fall photography adventure to Death Valley and The Grand Canyon. I've had my D7500 for a few years now at thought it's about time to attend to the sensor.

There isnt really much to say except follow the instructions and should work for your camera also.

I have used this brand for years. I never have any trouble getting the sensor completely clean with this brand along with Eclipse Optic Cleaning Fluid. One or two drops on swab is adequate. Sometimes a really dirty sensor needs two or three swabs. With mirrorless cameras, cleaning becomes more frequent. I clean sensors for my colleagues.
