Realize the full potential of your digital darkroom with this 25-sheet pack of 13 x 19" FineArt Baryta Satin Paper from Hahnemuehle. It has a 100% alpha cellulose base with a baryta (barium sulphate) coating that is reminiscent of traditional darkroom papers. This coating also works with the microporous ink-receiving layer for exceptional image sharpness with a wide color gamut and high Dmax. This makes the heavy 300 gsm paper well-suited for black & white imaging as well as color photography and fine art reproduction.

The paper itself benefits from the heft of a 14.6 mil thickness, an opacity of 98%, and a whiteness rated at 92%. This white coloration is achieved without the use of optical brightening agents for longevity. The paper is also acid free and calcium carbonate buffered for further longevity and is easy to handle thanks to its instant drying and very high water resistance. Additionally, it has a smooth satin-gloss surface finish.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How is Canson Infinity Photographique II different from its predecessor Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique?

A: The Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique II is slightly thinner than the original (11.9 vs 12.2mil) but other than that they are the same.

Q: 2. Is this paper archival?

A: The Moab Juniper Baryta Rag 305 Paper features a 100% cotton fiber base and no optical brightening agents for maximum longevity. Yes, this paper is archival.

Q: 3. I have a Canon Pro 10 and would naturally like to know how well this paper works with pigments?

A: You should have no problems with this paper on your Cannon Pro 10. It's now my preferred paper for enlarged prints for framing, using my Epson Stylus Pro 4800. Moab discontinued their Colorado Satine paper, and this paper proved to be the closes match with the Hahnemuhle being a little thicker @ 300 gsm. Being a Baryta paper, it still retains a very clean white base compared to other brands that I tested with 8.5X11 sheets. Compared to the Moab, side by side, it has just a very slight Baryta (warm tone) tint. Moab's Juniper Baryta Rag (305 gsm) is their new paper that replaced the Colorado, didn't cut it. It's to warm and has a sheen and texture that not normal for a Semi Gloss/Satine surface. Long story short, setup the paper profile, color calibrate your monitor, and test before printing larger sizes. You'll like this paper.

Q: 4. Dies this paper come in a smaller size, say 8 1/2 by 11?

A: As of the writing of this post, Hahnemühle Rice Paper is only in our catalog as a 13x19 sheet, which can be cut down to size.

Q: 5. This looks intriguing. Is it special purpose paper? One review mentions an adhesive. What are the prints meant to be attached to? Thanks.

A: It's the same as the full sized paper sheets or rolls. The only thing is due to the thickness of this paper & small size,, you might have to manual feed it in the larger printers (those that take up to 13x19 & above). Being so the manual feed won't recognize the 4x6 therefore you need to mount iton a larger paper. Please note this paper wont fit into the small all in one photo printers due to its thickness.

Q: 6. Apart from being twice the thickness of Moab Moenkopi Unryu paper, how does the surface texture compare to Moab's paper?

A: Being in the same general category, Hahnemühle Rice Paper (13 x 19", 25 Sheets) (B&H# HARP131925) and Moab Moenkopi Unryu Paper for Inkjet - 13 x 19" (A3+) - 10 Sheets (B&H# MOU55A3SB10) are similar in terms of surface texture. Perhaps the most noticeable difference is that the Moab Moenkopi Unryu has long hemp strands in it which give it a very slightly rougher look whereas Hahnemühle Rice Paper (13 x 19", 25 Sheets) (B&H# HARP131925) is slightly more uniform in look and texture. As with all fine art papers, however, please note that some variation is to be expected from batch to batch and that at this point we're really splitting hairs, so to speak.

Q: 7. what printer do you recommend for this paper?

A: A high quality inkjet photo printer i.e. Epson P700/900 & above, Canon Pro 10/100/1000/300 & above.

Q: 8. It doesn't mention how many pages come. Is it 1, 10, 100?

A: There used to be 25 or 50 sheet boxes. Now (if you are paying $150 it is a 25 sheet box and is the only one available, to my knowledge. Reference no. 10 641 457

Q: 9. What's the single sided equivalent of this paper? It has more texture than the ultra smooth but less than the standard photo rag. Just wondering because I love this paper but don't need double sided. Thanks!

A: The Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Bright White would be the most similar single sided option: https://bhpho.to/3HYbbGg

Q: 10. How does the archival quality of Hahnemuhle Baryta FB compare to Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta?

A: Not sure how to answer that, but the non FB is a better paper for me. The FB has a slight magenta cast. The Fine Art Baryta is very very nice. I havd always used Canson or Ilford for Baryta until I tried these 2 papers. The Hahnamuhle Fina Art Baryta is slightly more expensive than the FB, but the surface is slightly textured and the color rendition is fantastic. I would be confident that both papers are as archival as the manufacturer can make them. Don't worry. Just make great prints.

I learned about the Hahnemuhle photo cards recently and tried them in the Baryta Satin paper, wanting to use them as holiday gifts for a handful of people.

The process requires download of a PDF template from Hahnemuhle, which must be printed on letter-size card stock. You'll also need removeable photo adhesive from B&H or an art supply store. The photo cards are tack-mounted to the template, run through your photo printer one at a time. They can be removed immediately as the photo cards are instant drying.

The process takes some time, and will likely require getting familiar with it and what settings work best in your software (I print from Photoshop and Capture One), but once you have it down, they'll go quickly.

This photo card stock is quite absorbent so some deeply saturated colors will require adjustment in your editing app to avoid printing in a more muted tone. Black and white prints look gorgeous on this stock.

Try this product, it is a different way to present your prints.

Since Epson quite making 17x22 sheets of Bartya, I tried this out among others.
It was, by far, the nicest of the bunch. Very happy with the gorgeous results.

Use this paper with my Epson HD-XP 15000 photo printer. I use the "fine art paper" setting on my printer and the results are outstanding. When I was in the store purchasing this paper, the sales representative was trying to tell me that with my printer the prints would not come out good and said that I would need a higher end printer. But he was wrong, I am very happy with this paper alone with my Epson printer, and so are my clients.

After many weeks of trying to find THE best paper for my color prints among dozens of paper samples (from Hahnemuhle, Canson, Canon, Inkpress, Museo), I have finally found it. I initially thought that Canson Platine Fibre Rag would be it, but it turned out to produce faint banding on my Canon ip8720 printer under certain conditions, which was impossible to unsee. This Hahnemuhle paper on the other hand has the same incredible detail, color gamut and dynamic range as Platine without the banding. Moreover, the accuracy of color rendition is exactly as on my screen using the default Canon profile (Lustre), precluding the need for printer calibration, which I was totally prepared to do if necessary. The only other paper that equaled this one in my tests was Canson Baryta Prestige, but it's slightly thicker, so not ideal for my printer. The Canon Pro Platinum is also remarkably good, but it's gloss takes away the 3D punch of more matte papers, such as FA Baryta Satin. Note that I also tried Canson Baryta Photographique but was disappointed by the results, even after calibration with Datacolor Spyder Print 5. I could not test Epson papers since B&H does not ship them to Canada.

I've never been pleased with the printer/driver/paper combinations I've gotten from my printer manufacturer. Finally decided to try elsewhere for a paper and driver combination that (re)produced what I saw on my monitor. Hahnemuhle was the first choice in my search, and the search was over quickly. The renderings produced by the Baryta Satin paper and the printer driver downloaded from Hahnemuhle are extraordinary!
