The Nikon 82mm Circular Polarizer Filter II helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.

Polarizing filters arrange, and filter, directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light.

Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.

Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.

Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this filter have front threads so one can attach a lens cap? I cannot tell from the photo and the SPECS do not say.

A: You can attach a lens cap to the front of the Sony 67mm T* Circular Polarizer Filter.

Q: 2. Does this filter work on a Nikon 24-70mm lens?

A: The following lens adapt to the following filter sizes Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S Lens & Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR Lens both take 82mm filter size

Q: 3. Will the 112mm filter fit on Canon RF 100-300mm f/2.8 lens?

A: Yes, the Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter (112mm) will mount to the Canon RF 100-300mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens' (Canon RF), BH #CA10030028RF, front filter threading.

Q: 4. I have a a Sigma 10-20 wide angle lens. Will I get vignetting?

A: It is possible that this Nikon 82mm Circular Polarizer Filter II can cause vignetting on the Sigma 10-20mm Lens.

Q: 5. Can I use auto focus with this filter?

A: Yes absolutely. However I had problems with the Nikon 95 Polarizeras the two polarizing elements of the filter separated as I unscrewed it from a Nikon 200-500 F 5.6 tele. The two elements of this thin Nikon polarizer are held together with a thin silver wire. I sent it back to Nikon and asked for a new replacement filter but Nikon declined and sent the polarizer back repaired. Fearing the same problem might reoccur, I replaced the Nikon Polarizer with a B&W 95 polarizer which seem much more substantial.

Q: 6. Best polarizing lens filters

A: This is for asking a question about this product. At a minimum, you'll need to add a verb and a question mark.

Q: 7. Does this have front threads for a lens cap?

A: Yes; the Nikon 95mm Circular Polarizer Filter II has 95mm front filter threads which would allow you to use the Nikon 95mm Snap-On Lens Cap, B&H # NILC95, on the front of the filter.

Q: 8. Brass or aluminum construction?

A: The material of construction in the Sony 82mm T* Circular Polarizer Filter is aluminum.

Q: 9. Is the metal brass or aluminum?

A: I'ts black, so I cannot tell. It weighs less than the B+W, so it might be aluminum. It threads on nicely and is well made. It is also relatively thin, but still has enough thread for a lens cap.

Q: 10. does this fit a sony sel55210 lens?

A: The Sony E 55-210mm lens uses a 49mm filter. The Hoya 49mm NXT Plus Circular Polarizer Filter, BH # HOCPNP49 is a great alternative. https://bhpho.to/3fMdm0B

A little more expensive than other brands, but well worth it. I have always gotten great results with this polarizer.

Extremely well-made. The cost of this thing is like $679. After receiving the filter I could see the quality of the glass and the quality of the polarizer and it works fantastic. I recommend biting the bullet and buy one.

Was provided excellent advice by B&H, coated circular Polarizer II Filter delivered great results. (Look at those clouds and that rich sky) About 93 bucks and change. Nikon superior optics and glass is what sold me. If you're going to use something all the time, why not buy a solid name, coated, good glass, and get the adjustable, circular feature, so you can dial in the polarizing effect you want? Great service from B&H, who put up with all kinds of trivial questions to make sure you are both learning and getting the advice you need.

Nikon quality at a competitive price purchased from B&H who I have come to rely on for my photographic needs. I am very happy with the Nikon 67mm Circular Polarizer II, it works perfectly on the Nikon 18-300mm lens.

I had a choice of Nikon or other brands for use with my Nikon D-850, and some of those choices were less expensive. But when it comes to image quality and the filter potentially affecting it, I just stick with what I know will be good. I've had several Nikon filters and they all keep the IQ great. This one does, too. Good price, and good quality.

I bought this for use on my Z6ii with the Nikkor Z 40mm f/2.0. It's great. I keep a Nikon ND filter on the lens for protection, then add a
Sensei Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood II which the CPII filter attaches to. You could also simply attach this filter over the ND if not using a lens hood. the CPF spins very nicely over the threaded portion to get the right polarization for your conditions. The build quality is solid, and they come spotless from Nikon.

Perfect when you live at the beach. Saves intense glare from the water.

Using this on my Canon R5 with the RF 24-105 f/4 L lens. It provides excellent image quality. So why didn't I buy the overpriced Canon polarizer? I think I just answered that question. Important tip: Don't put a cheap (a.k.a. $30-$50) filter on your expensive glass.

A high quality filter that is well made and comes with a very nice case that should provide ample protection.
