Lensless 4 X 5" Pinhole Camera (225mm / 9" Telephoto, Red Oak)
- Product Code: ga2975

The red oak wood 4 x 5" Pinhole Camera from Lensless features a 9" focal length. Lensless Cameras are constructed of different woods. Each model has a tiny hole (1/64" or smaller) precisely drilled in the front panel. The shutter is simply a small hinged metal plate that the photographer swings up and down to begin and end the exposure. The focal length is determined by the length of the camera. The format is determined by the size of the back of the camera, which accepts the film holder. Since it is designed to accept a sheet film holder, there is no need to load the camera in the dark.
This is a red oak wood, 4 x 5" Pinhole Camera, with a focal length of 225mm, which is a telephoto perspective for this format. Average exposure in bright, noon-day sun is 4 seconds, using 400 ISO film.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. From what material is the pinhole made?Is the pinhole drilled in wood or metal or plastic? How much precision is there to the pinhole? Is it drilled by laser?
A: Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not share their manufacturing process with us regarding this item. However, the pinhole is quite precise based on the positive reviews.
Q: 2. Would this pinhole camera accommodate the LomoGraflok 45 Instant Back?
A: The Lensless 4 x 5" Pinhole Camera (Baltic Birch) is not designed to accommodate an instant film back, which may be too thick to fit--the length and height is compatible, however, so you may be able to fix the camera to fit the instant film back in some way.
Q: 3. Do you have any instructions on how to load the film in this camera. There was not any instructions with it. I know it must be simple, but how, with not exposing the film.
A: On the back end of the camera there is a rectangular piece of wood secured by 2 dowels. If one isn't using a cut film holder with the camera you simply mount the film to that rectangular piece of wood (needs to be loaded in the dark you may wish to practice using a spent sheet of film in the light first before going into the dark to load). If you are using a cut film holder or other back you just leave out the rectangular piece of wood and secure whatever film back you're using with the 2 dowels (film backs should also be loaded in the dark). Q: 4. How do I determine my exposure using 400 speed film?
A: I carry a copy of the following chart. ( You can google for Mr. Pinhole, the site has a link to the calculator. If you are using 400 speed film choose ISO 400 on the meter or camera. Then cross reference the reading vs the chart for f/230.I have another chart that shows me the additional time required because of the film's reciprocity failure rate. (This will be specific to the film you are using.)
