The differance is in the Amperage it supplies in each plug, one is 1A for iPhone, the other is 2.4A, for iPad. i charge my phone on either, differance is a fast or slower charge. I highly recommend the product, it will charge a iPad a couple of times, a phone probably more than a dozen times. . It does however take a long time to recharge itself, even with a iPad type charger, like overnight.
