The black FX8 from Fluid Audio is a studio reference monitor, well suited for project and professional studio applications. The dual concentric or coaxial drivers feature an 8" low frequency woofer coupled with a 1.2" tweeter to deliver a phase coherent signal with an accurate off-axis response, resulting superb imaging and sonic clarity. The bi-amplified design delivers 130W of Class A/B power to the drivers, while the optimized front-loaded slot port directs the low frequency energy towards the listener and away from the wall. The speakers offer a frequency response of 35 Hz to 22 kHz for full range sound

The FX8 is magnetically shielded and offers balanced XLR, 1/4" / 6.35mm, and unbalanced RCA inputs to accommodate a variety of equipment including audio interfaces, monitor controllers, instruments, and DJ gear. The front panel offers a convenient fader volume to easily control the volume without having to reach around to the rear of the speaker. The amplifier includes a stand-by mode to help conserve electricity when not in use. The FX8 ships with an AC power cord and speaker isolation pads.

A: Yes they are internally magnetically shielded.

Q: 9. do each of the pair of speakers need do be connected to the computer by individual USBs in order to have remote access?

A: They do not. There is an XLR AES3 output is provided to route digital signal to the second monitor, necessary for correct digital signal flow.

Q: 10. What is the A/D Converter for?

A: Because these monitors have DSP (Digital Signal Processors,) a high quality 24 bit/192 kHz A/D converter from Burr-Brown assures a pristine signal to the DSP section. The PWM-amplifiers are directly connected to the DSP section, so no additional conversion is necessary. This guarantees an extreme reliability.

uperb sound. Suberb value. I've recently bought in a pair of Fluid FX8's for double duties: As a stereo pair for critical listening/monitoring in an Edit suite, and as a side-surrounds in a 7.0 setup. Swapping my much loved KRK VXT6's for these was surprising - These are sonically superior in every way for AU$420 less! I really think the FX8 is perhaps the best kept scret in studio monitoring anywhere near this price point. I've heard many other monitors going for far more money that don't give you so much. These may deserve a place in the history books! PLUSES: * Superb stereo imaging. * Similar voicing and accuracy to the famous KRK VXT series, noticeably better fidelity and response. * Coaxial design works supremely well and allows for smaller size, compared to other 8 monitors. * Front bass ported. * Usable down to around 35Hz as claimed. * No need for a subwooofer. * Also available in white (which is arguably better looking & more striking). * Level slider on the front is handy. * LOTS of A/B power. * External heat sink at rear. * Excellent connectivity. * Stand-by mode is handy. MINUSES: * Power switch at the front would have been nice. * No trim controls for highs, mids or lows. * No DSP as with Fluid's FPX7, but you wouldn't expect it at this price point, and sonically doesn't seem to suffer without it. * Very minor noise floor.

Just got these speakers today and my thoughts were that these are not that loud. I am running the volume knob on the speaker itself on max, and controlling audio on my M-Audio USB interface. It usually sits at around half for music playback. In terms of audio quality, these monitors are honest. It wont give you a punchy bass unless you send it through an EQ. Build quality is perfect! No defects on paint, cones or anything that I could pick out.

Very nice for the price point and size. No really thumping bass, but that is to be expected from speakers this size. Unfortunately, I really didn't have room for anything larger on my desk. I don't imagine a situation in which I need these to be loader than they are. Nice clean reproduction. Well built. I don't think you are going to find anything better at this price point. Of course, B&H service is always 5-star. Quick shipping and delivery. No hassles.
