Awagami Factory has updated the standard Japanese Washi paper style with a series of advanced paper designed with coatings specifically for inkjet photographic prints. The double-sided Inbe Thick White Inkjet Paper, available here as a 10-pack of A2, 16.5 x 23.4" sheets, embraces this style with a Kozu (mulberry) and hemp fiber base that show off a delicate "laid" pattern of the papermaking screen. This paper also ensures accurate color reproduction, has a measured basis weight of 125 gsm, and a thickness of 9.1 mil. Additionally, the textured matte paper is strong due thanks to the hemp content, making it useful for a variety of print types.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will 16x24 prints fit? 16.5 x23.4 seems like such an odd size...

A: 16.5 x 23.4 or 594 x 420 mm is metric A2 sizing that the rest of the world uses outside of the USA and Canada. As far as prints fitting, I believe what you are thinking of are 16 x 20 prints. These of course will easily fit and be protected in the A2 sized sleeves of this book.

Q: 2. is this paper double sided for print?

A: No, it is coated for print on only one side. That said, there's nothing to stop you from printing on the back, the the results may not be as good.

Q: 3. Are all the sheets in this sample pack the same finish, Matte Smooth Fine Art? If not, what are the other surface finishes in the pack?

A: Two Sheets of Each Paper Type: Rice Paper 100 gsm Photo Rag Book & Album 220 gsm Bamboo 290 gsm Photo Rag Ultra Smooth 305 gsm Photo Rag 308 gsm Photo Rag Bright White 310 gsm

Q: 4. Can I use this paper for a magazine?

A: The Awagami Factory Murakumo Kozo Select Natural Paper (A3+, 13 x 19", 10 Sheets) is a thinner fine art paper. It is not the ideal media for a magazine.

Q: 5. The samples are lumped together without identification. How are you supposed to know which paper is which?

A: Each sheet of paper has a stamp on the back indicating the paper type. I know this is the case by the 8.5 x 11 & I assume the same is by the 13 x 19.

Q: 6. What is the shelf life of ink jet photo paper? More specifically the Inkpress media line of paper.

A: If stored in a cool dark place. You should have about 2 years of shelf life.

Q: 7. Is this sticky like washi tape?

A: Yes, this paper type would be slightly sticky

Q: 8. What size core does this roll have? is it compatible with the canon pro-2100 printer?

A: The Awagami Factory Kozo Thin White Paper Roll has a 3 inch core but it is too thin for use in the Canon 2100 printer. The paper is 0.16mil and your printer requires paper that is 3mil or thicker.

Q: 9. Does this paper contain OBAs (optical brightening agents)?

A: I don't think so,it's pretty dull and soaks up the ink

Q: 10. Does each sheet print on its own, or do you have to add a backing piece of paper for inkjet printing?

A: Each sheet prints on its own and it is designed for Inkjet printers.

A little context: I used this paper for printing in a photography class, but now I will use a lab for my prints for my business and I haven't found a lab that uses this paper, so I don't think I will be using it again.

I loved using it in my class though. The colors are really nice, the contrast is maybe a little softer on the paper than on the screen (but I like that), and the paper feels sturdy. I prefer matte to glossy paper because I don't like the sheen on glossy papers. I also like that it's double sided.

I needed to print postcards for a class and these worked very well. It’s a nice, thick paper and the prints looked great!

I use this for fine art prints of my watercolors. My work is atmospheric, with a lot of subtle, earth tones. This paper prints the nuances of the colors perfectly. I love the feel and the fact that it prints on both sides. I use a Canon ip8720 printer. It's not a high-end printer, but it does a beautiful job on this paper.

Used this wonderful paper for my portfolio prints and at present a series of customer botanical garden notecards. People literally have to refrain from touching it and hover their hands a few inches away. It makes me so happy to see this happen. I would be hard pressed to use anything else...just love it.

I love Moab papers, especially their rag papers. Entrada Rag Bright 300 is a heavy paper which feels natural and luxurious to the touch. Although it's double-sided, I use it as a single-sided paper for fine art prints for exhibition or portfolio work, particularly for matte black and white prints. It's the perfect combination of reasonable price and terrific quality. The tonal range is superb and I find that the D-max is better than most matte papers. It's also more neutral-toned, which is what I want. If I want warm-toned prints, I'll tone my prints! Strongly recommended. While Epson Cotton Rag papers (bright and natural) are also very high quality and almost indistinguishable from Moab's, if you're not printing with an Epson printer, you can't get access to icc profiles for Epson papers. Moab is not just a great alternative, it's the paper to use, whether you have an Epson printer or not.

This is my go-to double sided fine art paper. It isn’t quite my favorite matte fine art paper overall, I prefer a bit more texture in a textured paper, and a bit more smoothness, DMax and gamut in a smooth matte paper. However this is hands down the best double sided fine art matte paper I’ve ever found. I use it all the time for cards and other presentation items that I want to impress on both sides. Durable for handling as well.
