With advanced wireless and network functionality, the Panasonic AJ-PX380 P2 HD AVC-Ultra Camcorder is a full-featured 1/3" ENG-style video camera with an interchangeable lens system. Please note that this item only includes the camera body and does not include the lens or viewfinder. Suitable for newsgathering, the camera captures Full HD at up to 59.94p, recording to optional micro P2 cards and supporting a P2 card slot. Using codecs in the AVC-Ultra family allows you a choice of compression and data rate to suit your needs, and you can record proxy files on optional SD cards using the built-in SD media card slot.

It features a 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, and an HDMI output as well as a monitor output switchable between SD/HD and Composite. With both Genlock In and Timecode In/Out, the camera is suitable for multi-camera and single-camera news coverage. The camera comes ready to interface with your network via the built-in Ethernet connector. You can attach an optional USB dongle to the camera for wireless connectivity using Wi-Fi, 4G, or LTE. The camera features a variety of in camera image settings, including Flash Band compensation, which minimizes the effects of still photo camera flashes captured on video. The built-in Uni Slot accepts optional wireless audio recording.

Q: 5. is there a way to record audio to the same file as Video? Right now the audio is in a separate folder and has to be linked by editor. Makes transferring files manually from card for specific news stories impossible. The whole card has to be copied.

A: The Panasonic AJ-PX380 P2 HD AVC-Ultra Camcorder uses the AVC-ULTRA format. Be sure to have the latest AVC-ULTRA software installed in your computer.. Make sure that you follow the software's instructions for downloading. We suspect if you are dragging and dropping, you are leaving invisible software that syncs the video and audio.

Q: 6. Would I be able to attach a Rode Video Mic Pro to this?

A: Yes. The camera comes with a cold shoe adapter for you to mount lights and mics.

Q: 7. When recording in 4K does this split long takes into multiple files or does it create a large file?

A: The process of recording video to consumer grade camcorder, will require video files to be broken into 4gb segments whether shooting in 4K, Full High definition or HD video.

Q: 8. Does this camera has headphone out for monitoring? Line out over AV out will not do the job....Canon camcorders have that option.

A: This camcorder offers a 1/8 mini stereo headphone output port.

A: Maximum sizes for recording to an SD Card is 2GB, SDHC is 32GB, and SDXC is 128GB. If recoding 4K resolution, I recommend either a 64GB or 128GB SDXC card.

This camera is being used as an unattended left angle from the stage, that is one of a 4 camera shoot. The problem with unattended shooting is using a wide enough angle to keep the talent in frame, and also being able to pan & zoom in post editing to make it appear the camera does have an operator. I uploaded a wide and cropped shot to show how amazing the severe cropping retains resolution! Vegas Pro 13 was used for the crop. You can watch the whole video on You Tube channel csldallas, the June 4, 2017 sunday talk. I like everything else about this camera, too. The Wifi to iPhone interface is very easy to use, and very good picture for such a small body and price. 5

I love it! My subscribers on YouTube noticed that I use new camera right away - with positive feedback! The battery holds charge good enough even for outdoor recording at below freezing temperature. I even using it for shooting stop motion videos! 5

This is a very well thought out camcorder. I am a pro still photographer and clients sometimes ask me to take some video like on a construction site. I find I can hold the video camera in one hand and take stills with the other. Yes, it's a gift! The exposure was perfect and the 4k with its large bit rate is fantastic. You'll find very quickly that you can't do everything offered by the camera unless the you use the right setting. For example, the cinema settings and the 5 pt surround sound and the zoom also, can only be used when you shoot in the lower bit rate AVCHD codec. So don't use those settings. Have your own mic with a zoom. The only thing I'm afraid of is using the mini-cam at a meeting. This camera with the 1/2 sensor--on 4k is better than my old 3 chip camera--but the older camera looked the part. I plan on dressing up this camera with a big Zoom H6 on the top! Also, touch screen focus tracking only works in auto and semi-auto setting. Not in manual. You can only adjust gain in manual but you can adjust with plus/minus the exposure in semi-auto. Is that the same thing as gain? Is it adjusting the same way the gain does? So, good camera when you learn to live within its parameters. 5

The Panasonic HC-VX981 turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. Top 2 qualities are ease of use and unequaled image quality, seriously, watching my movies and pictures on a TV screen seems like I am at the movies! Then, as you dwell into what the camera offers you, your horizon keeps expanding, both using the different modes and formats it offers. Stabilization is great, and so is the little light for night scenes. Additionally, the movie shoots in complete darkness, using infra-red. The only feature I would have like to have is a wide-angle around 29mm or lower. The zoom is optical at 20x, (phenomenal), then a hybrid optical/digital at 25x, and a digital going to 1,500x. The camera is light at use, but I recommend a larger battery. It's a 4k camera, with a clean HDMI. 5

Purchased this after a recommendation from B&H for a camcorder to record family interviews. After a month of intermittent use I am very impressed with the overall quality of the video and audio. Positives: The setup is very easy, and it was intuitive to start recording. The camera is light and ergonomic and easy to attach to a tripod. The optical zoom and combined digital zoom is very impressive, you can read fine print across a room. Some downsides: the battery life is limited, but you can easily connect a portable usb battery to the provided cable resolve that. The memory card can only go up to 128GB which limits the recording time to around 300 minutes at 4k quality. Overall it works well for my needs 5
