  Q: 1. Can i use one battery on the grip and none on the camera body to make easier to change battery while on tripod? Or the use of the battery on the camera body is obligatory?

  A: Just checked this out on my D600. You can use the camera with just a battery in the grip. All normal camera functions seemed to work the same as having a battery in the camera body. Hope this helps.

  Q: 2. Will an Arca-Swiss style camera plate designed specifically for the Nikon MB-D14 fit the same way on this grip? That is, are the bottom contours of this grip exactly the same as the MB-D14?

  A: No unfortunately. The grips are different enough in design that the plates/brackets designed for the MB-D14 would not fit onto this Vello grip properly.

  Q: 3. *Black or chrome?

  A: Which do you prefer? Because that's what it's going to come down to.Chrome may reflect light back into a set. Though I've yet to see that happen.Black possibly could retain more heat is used outdoors.Chrome generally is easier to see on a dark set.Black might be considered cooler looking than chrome.My chrome D600 works perfectly well with my decades old C-stands. So yeah, pick the one you like.

  A: This is a good boom, I like it a lot, good quality and heavy-duty (which you wouldn't guess from the name mini ). Due to limited space in my studio, my favorite stand by far is Photogenic PHTA34MS58 8' Light Stand with 19 Caster Base. Works great with this boom. The caster base is heavy, the wheels roll very smoothly, and the small footprint is wonderful, so much nicer in the studio than the typical tripod light stands (been there done that, I replaced them all with these 19 caster base Photogenic stands).

  Q: 7. Will the Manfrotto 123 Super Boom Pivot Clamp fit this boom?

  A: No, that product has its own mounting points (we call them "receivers") for a boom and for attaching to a stand. This product, the Avenger D600CB Mini Boom (Black) (BH# AVD600CB), will attach to a C stand or other heavy duty light stand that has a 5/8" stud on top. Another name for a 5/8" stud is a "baby pin."

  A: It would still be the same as without the battery grip.

  Q: 9. Before I return this boom to B&H, when i received the boom, all these small metals studs fell out of it and the boom will not tighten completely. Is this normal??

  A: No - that's not normal;send it back. It's a great piece to have, but it shouldn't be falling apart out of the box.

  Q: 10. So, does the grip have to be removed in order to change the battery that is in the camera?

  A: Yes the grip does need to be removed to take the battery out of the camera.
