The Tiffen 2 x 2" 1 Skyfire Graduated Filter helps to specifically add a unique orange to yellow gradient to skies and other bright areas of an image while allowing a portion of the image to remain neutrally colored. The filter's coloring is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged transition between the density and clear areas. The 1 color density provides less skyfire coloration than the 2 density filter.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. It measures 2 x 2" / 50.8 x 50.8mm.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Any difference between this newly released one and previous one? Is the lens designed again

A: The ZEISS Milvus 2/135 ZE shares the same optical design as the 'classic' version of the lens, with additional improvements in the anti-reflective coatings, a weather sealed barrel and a focus ring that does not telescope, allowing for use with a follow focus gear when using the lens for motion capture.

Q: 2. Is this lens fully compatible with Nikon FE? (will it allow using it in A mode)

A: Using this lens in full manual mode on the Nikon FE would not be a problem. However, it may not work in Auto mode.

Q: 3. Does this filter have any tags or other properties that allow you to align the gradient axis precisely with the camera axis?

A: No, the Tiffen 72mm Graduated Neutral Density Attenuator/Blender 1.2 Filter (4-Stop) does not have tags or any markings indicating the gradient axis.

Q: 4. Is this lens compatible with Nikon 2x converter?

A: This teleconverter has not been tested by ZEISS on the Milvus 135 lens, so a recommendation cannot be made.

Q: 5. Hi, I have nikkor 24-70 f2.8 and I am wondering if there is a clear and basic difference between this lens and my nikkor for upgrading

A: There is not a straight forward answer on this one. You are comparing a zoom work horse with autofocus to a fixed 35 with a stop of light gain and manual focus. You have to really enjoy manual focus to love this lens. But as far as images, they have a unique look that can only be seen/ experienced. When i first got it I agonized over samples and pixel peeped to try and justify it's price. At pixel level this image will not blow you away, however when you look at the overall image (combinantion of sharpness, color, contrast, bokeh) it's amazing. The bokeh is the best I have seen of any 35, it just looks natural. and you can put people at the edges and shoot wide open knowing they will be sharp and not distorted. Really a great lens that I love shooting with once i looked at the images and not the pixels.

Q: 6. Is it only manual and auto

A: The Zeiss Milvus 35mm f/2 ZE lens is a manual-focus only lens, but its aperture can be electronically set, either manually (M, Av) or automatically (Tv, P, Auto).

Q: 7. Does it go on a Nikon D810???

A: Yes, the Zeiss Milvus ZF.2 4-Lens Bundle for Nikon F are compatible for use with the Nikon D810 DSLR camera.

Q: 8. Whats the benefits of this over the non digital version for half the price? I notice the coating and titanium ring but my question is more about image/color quality.

A: This filter uses optical quality glass, is uncoated and uses an aluminum filter ring. The Digital HT version uses Water White (highest quality) glass, is multi-coated and uses a titanium coated ring. The mulit-coating makes the glass more scratch resistant, easier to clean and less chance of reflections. The HT filters meet or exceed military specifications as well. The difference in image color/quality will be tough to see when comparing the two, the difference is more in construction quality.

Q: 9. Is the focus throw on the 135mm in Nikon mount the same as on their Zeiss Classic predecessor?

A: The angular field of rotation of the focus barrel is 268 degrees for both lenses.

Q: 10. does it have HT coating on lens?

A: This filter is not coated.

Pros: Once fall down from a cliff about 30 meters high to the ground(soft soils) and still works! Amazing mechanical quality! It has been glued to my Fuji 10-24 for landscape for a long time.
Cons: Not very dirt or stain proof, still needs to be cleaned quite often. It is quite fingerprints proof though.
BTW: The B+W step up ring should take the main responsibility for the accident. No way could I imagine after years of them staying together, could they fall apart. After all, the step up ring always tend to get stuck with many of my filters on.

I am using it on Zeiss 21mm and this filter very helpful in landscape shots. Huge difference between HT and old filters. Using this filter is better than HDR software can do.

Works perfect. I use the 77mm with step up rings for my smaller lenses and have no problems. Darkens the sky just enough and the filter is graduated so you don't have that hard line in the middle. For me this works better that the square filters and holder systems as it is less to carry with the step rings.

Purchased the Tiffen 77mm Graduated 0.6 ND Digital HT Filter so I could take photos during bright sunny days without that washed out look in the photo. The ND filter also allows me to shoot at lower shutter speeds, wider apertures and a lower ISO as needed depending on the effect I'm trying to create. The filter is pricey, but is definitely high quality and fits the three lenses I use most often. The Tiffen Digital HT Filter line are quality filters and I have no hesitation recommending their filters.

I love dabbling in landscape photography, living out here in Montana, but the sky was always really dull in comparison and it's horribly frustrating. I finally bunkered down and got this filter, and I haven't looked back. I can finally get the clarity in the clouds that I want while not having to underexpose the mountains. This is a great little tool to carry around on just about any expedition -- you never know when it will come in handy, and for what! The threads on this seem different than other filters I've used, which makes it difficult to get on at first, but once it is on, it stays put and doesn't budge. Very solidly built.

Sturdy, quality glass filter. Very subtle filter. I will probably have to stack this some other filters to get the shots I want.

Very useful filter when the blue sky is TOO bright on the gray sand beach.
