This 25-sheet pack of 13 x 19" Galerie Gold Fibre Gloss from Ilford features a wide color gamut and a baryta (barium sulphate) layer with a tradtional photo fiber base. The paper is designed for pigment and dye-based ink systems and imitates the look of traditional silver halide photo paper. The paper's 310 gsm weight provides a heavy, professional quality medium. The nanoporous instant dry surface provides maximum ink absorption and allows for worry-free paper handling right out of the printer. The paper can be used for both black and white and color prints and provides the ability to imitate chemically toned sepia, gold, selenium & blue images. Additionally, it does not use optical brightening agents for maximum longevity and an opacity of >98%.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this the right paper for my Epson R2880 and XP 800

A: Yes it is compatible with your 2 Epson printers.

Q: 2. A client wants to know about this paper's longevity? What can I tell him?

A: As with most good quality fine art inkjet papers, their archival longevity typically exceeds 30 years. In some of Hahnemuhle's products, the lifespan of a print can be upwards of 200 years. While we couldn't find any archival testing results from them on the Matt Fiber Duo, proper use-case will ensure your prints will last many, many years. For best results, please follow typical archival guidelines, and see Hahnemuhle's website on longevity here: https://www.hahnemuehle.com/en/digital-fineart/longevity.html

Q: 3. Can this paper be used with large format Canon printer ?

A: I never tried , but probebly....I use it with an Epson 3880 ....

Q: 4. How do this compare with the Epson Platine?

A: The Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag Paper (8.5 x 11", 25 Sheets) has 89.12% whiteness and high water resistance. The Epson Legacy Platine Paper has 82% whiteness.

Q: 5. I need a double sided fine art paper for a promo I'm doing. Image on one side, text on the other. What are my options?

A: I have attached a link for some 2 sided fantastic pro photo paper.

Q: 6. How does this surface compare with the now discontinued Gold Fibre Silk?

A: Its essentially just an updated version.

Q: 7. Does this replace Gold Mono Silk?

A: The Ilford GALERIE Gold Raster Silk Paper has the same surface and thickness as the Ilford GALERIE Prestige Gold Mono Silk Paper so it would be the nearest replacement.

Q: 8. Does the grain run long or short?

A: I highly doubt it would make any difference. This is an extremely high resolution fine grain semi gloss paper and is about the best there is.Canson don't state any specification on their website but do include images of all their surface finishes and they all look pretty random to me.Sheet media is always loaded in portrait with the long side facing adjacent to the motion of the print head.

Q: 9. Is this new paper the replacement of the now discontinued smooth super high gloss ? Does it have same characteristics or is it entirely new ?

A: Glossy inkjet is a type of paper that shines by nature. When light falls on such paper it is either reflected parallelly or at an angle. With metallic paper a sheet of mylar is kept between the printing paper and the emulsion. So there's no real comparison. Metallic is far superior for a 3D look. That being said Gloss doesn't change the image effect as does metallic and the colors can be a bit more accurate.

Q: 10. Back before Christmas I purchased two boxes of Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag paper (8.5x11 and 13x19) from B&H. I now have a new Canon imageProGraf 300 printer. I've downloaded the ICC profile for this paper, but Canson does not indicate the "Media Type" setting that I should use in PS or LR. Could anyone advise me what media setting I should use?

A: You can probably use Luster or Exhibition Fiber which is also in the semi gloss family. Please note: being that the TM300 is only a 4 color printer not really for photos or fine art, you can't expect to get the exact color on prints anyway. You'll need a printer like the Pro 4100.
