The Vello BG-S3-2 Battery Grip is designed for use with the Sony Alpha a7 II, a7S II, and a7R II mirrorless cameras. The grip holds one or two NP-FW50 batteries which effectively doubles shooting time when both batteries are installed. A: I have the two Sony batteries that come with the A7R II and 6 third party batteries. Haven't noticed any difference using Sony or third party batteries with or without the battery grip! One of the features I like with the battery grip is it tells you which battery is being used and remaining power left on each battery.

A: Unfortunately it does not. However you can always use or get a Ball Head for a Tripod, and that would do the trick.

A: The short answer to that question is yes. I bought this and installed it in my Sony A7R II and it worked as advertised. Until my camera went haywire one day. I wrote extensively about what happened on my website but I'm not allowed to post a link to it in this response. At this point I can only conclude that the battery grip was responsible for a sudden drainage of all battery power. My camera did not work until I performed a certain sequence of card and battery removal etc. My camera is now working fine, and I have yet to test it once again with the grip installed, although I do plan to.Perhaps someone from B&H Could contact me directly on this. Sony is aware of what happened, as is the local store in which I purchased the camera body itself. If you go to kyleandrew dot com and scroll down, I posted the article on my site this week. I'm not in any way suggesting that the grip was certainly the cause of this issue, but based on correspondence with others online and my own testing, I can't help but highly suspect it.
