  • Availability: In Stock

$146.85 $211.46

The Tiffen 67mm Ultra Contrast 1/8 Filter can be applied to purposely reduce contrast while photographing an image or while recording video. By distributing ambient illumination to darker areas within a scene, this filter is useful in helping to uniformly balance the tonal range among highlights and shadows. Detail is increased within shadow regions while flare and halation around highlights is purposely limited.

This filter has a grade of 1/8. Grades of 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are also available where this filter type's effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.

Q: 1. Would it make sense to use these filters on a digital camera shooting in B&W mode? I experimented holding up a red filter from my old B&W film days on a Sony pocket camera and the results looked promising. Now I have a Canon SX50HS and would like to get screw-on filters but think when I learn how to use it better there may be a way to filter it internally. Would a polarizer do basically the same thing?

A: While it is entirely possible to use these filters with a DSLR in b+w mode, it will not be the same as shooting black and white film, as a digital camera shoots in RGB and then converts to a black and white profile. If you do choose to use these filters with a DSLR shooting in black and white, you will need to set a custom white balance as well, as the camera will see the green/red/yellow and try to correct for them in auto white balance or other preset white balance modes. Additionally, another option you can try is to shoot your images in RGB mode, and then in post production, particularly in Adobe Photoshop, add a B&W layer or a Channel Mixer layer to obtain a more accurate black and white image. A circular polarizer will work as well.

Q: 2. does it have HT coating on lens?

A: This filter is not coated.

Q: 3. Does Freewell offer a version of the UV filter that isn't threaded on the back and instead can magnetically attach to the glassless ring like the ND filters?

A: Yes, there is the Freewell Magnetic Quick-Swap 82mm UV Filter, BH #FRFW82MUV (https://bhpho.to/3zcfbNp). This is a a UV Filter that is not threaded and attaches magnetically.

Q: 4. Are the Zeiss Filters compatible with Nikkor lens?

A: See no reason why not. It depends on the front filter thread size of the Nikkor lens. Should be compatible with 67mm.Good luck'Shmulik

Q: 5. Are they stackable?

A: Yes, they are.

Q: 6. What metal is the ring on these filters made of?

A: The Tiffen Digital Ultra Clear Water White Filter (43mm) ring is aluminum.

Q: 7. For my Sony 18-105mm F4 lens. Would you guys recommend that I get the Zeiss 72mm UV filter or the Sony 72mm MC filter? I'm leaning towards the Sony brand for the continuity of having the same brand but not sure if both filters are exactly the same in design. I own a Sony 35mm F1.8 and a Sony 49mm MC filter andthe filter fits my lens like a glove.

A: Just to add to the previous comment to make it clearer: The are the same - just branding difference.

Q: 8. what is the warranty for the 52 and 58mm HD3 UV, HD3 CPL and variable ND filters?

A: Hoya filters carry a limited lifetime warranty.

Q: 9. Is the Tiffen Circular Polarizing filter in the Tiffen 67DIGEK3 kit the same as the Tiffen 67CP Circular Polarizing filter? If not, which is the better quality?

A: Yes it includes the 67CP filter.

Q: 10. So I have this for my Panasonic HCX1 but no matter what I do it won't focus. Is they any fish eye lens for 67mm HCX1?

A: It will be optimal to use fixed focus with the Panasonic HC-X1 Ultra HD 4K Professional Camcorder and the Opteka 67mm 0.3X HD Ultra Fisheye Lens Adapter. If the lens is still causing an issue, consider working with a larger filter thread and a step-up ring, as 67mm fish eye options are limited. The Opteka 72mm 0.3X HD Ultra Fisheye Lens Adapter is an example. See the link below: https://bhpho.to/3XAqJnA

Wasn't sure what filters I wanted to start with so I went with this filter kit and pouch. They fit into the pouch nicely. The pouch itself feels a little thin on the padding but still secure enough to protect the filters.

I purchased this kit specifically for a new Canon EF-S lens. I have used Tiffen products for years and this new set is every bit as high quality as I expect. The great thing about Tiffen is that you get the quality for a fair price. I do like the Tiffen wallet that comes with the kit as well.

Got these to pair with the sigma 16 1.4 E mount. They seem fine and arrived nice and clean which cannot be said for other 'budget' lens covers. Wish the ND was variable but beggars cannot be choosers.

I am learning about landscape photography, waterfalls in particular.
The polarizer and ND filter are nice to work with producing colors are are natural. I plan of getting some stronger ND filters in the future.
