This 6.6 x 6.6" NiSi Nano IRND Filter is an ND filter with a 16x filter factor that provides a 4-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.2 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overxposing your image. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are intended to not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. To provide a high level of neutrality across the visible and infrared spectrums in order to eliminate color casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks when using the NiSi 6.6 x 6.6" Nano IRND 1.2 Filter, one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating is applied to each of this filter's surfaces.

This NiSi 6.6 x 6.6" Nano IRND 1.2 Filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity, and measures 4mm thick.

6.6 x 6.6" neutral density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.

Providing a 4-stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

Filter does not affect coloration of the image and is ideal for use with other filters.

Each surface includes one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating that attenuates infrared light as well as visible wavelengths, to maintain color neutrality and suppress color casts due to increased exposure times.

Constructed from optical glass for clarity.

Leatherette pouch included for storage and transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi, i wold like yo know if this model it's compatible with the Sony PZ28-135 mm?

A: Yes, the NiSi True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop Variable ND Filter (95mm) is compatible with the Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens.

Q: 2. Can it be used with NIKKOR 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S Lens which has a drop in filter holder in the back? If not, what are the options?

A: The NiSi True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop Variable ND Filter (46mm) is incompatible with the Nikon NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S Lens. Instead, get the Kase Tele Drop-In Filter Kit for NIKKOR 800mm f/6.3 VR S and 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S Lenses (1.5 - 5 Stop Vari ND Filter, Magnetic Holder), BH #KAFKNZVND15.

Q: 3. Does the 67mm size cause vignetting when used with the Sony SEL20F18G lens?

A: No, the NiSi True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop Variable ND Filter (67mm) will not cause a vignette on lenses, like the Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G Lens (B&H # SO2018G).

Q: 4. I am going to use this filter on my 60-600mm lens. Doesn't X-effect occur at any focal length?

A: The NiSi True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop Variable ND Filter (105mm) does not create an X pattern at all. An "X" pattern tends to happen on lower end variable ND filters that cover a broader stop range such as 2 to 8 stops.

Q: 5. How does this "Explorer" differ from the "Nano"?

A: The explorer is also Nano but NiSi Explorer filters are constructed from tempered Schott B270 glass for shock resistance as well as increased optical clarity and color fidelity.

Q: 6. Can I combine this with a Nisi circular polarizer? which should be in front (which determines size i need)?

A: Yes, you can combine with NiSi circular polarizer. The size of the filter will be the same as the ND filter. The circular polarizer should be in front, after the ND filter, circular polarizer is being rotated more often then ND so should have easier access without disturbing exposure. When stacking multiple filters with rotating elements consider having Rubberized Filter Wrench https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1407950-REG/sensei_48_55mm_rubberized_filter_wrench.html of appropriate size due to possible difficulty of separating the filters when taking of the lens.

Q: 7. If you can’t use it with the lens hood on the Sony 2470 version two then what’s the answer?

A: Like most variable ND filters NiSi True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop Variable ND Filter (77mm) has a larger front thread to reduce the risk of vignetting. In this case the Nisi 77mm filter has an 82mm front which makes the overall size too large to fit in a manufacturers specific lens hood. One option you could use is a generic 82mm screw on hood instead. https://bhpho.to/2M1NP5B. The filter would attach to the lens and then the screw on hood attaches to the filter.

Q: 8. Does the filter has IR CUT?

A: According to the manufacturer, yes, the NiSi 82mm True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1-5 Stop Variable Neutral Density Filter does have infrared IR cut properties built into the filter.

Q: 9. Can I get a swift 6-9nd add on filter that will fit on the front of 58m VND?

A: Nisi says that they should have a swift 6-9 ND that works with the NiSi True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop Variable ND Filter (58mm) some time in October.

Q: 10. I use the NiSi 100mm Filter Holder for Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S Lens. Is this filter compatible.with that holder?

A: Yes, you can use the NiSi 100 x 100mm Explorer IRND 3.0 Filter with the NiSi 100mm Filter Holder for the Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S Lens.
