Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. I would like to use this headset for music vocals. The plugs are perfect but will the sound quality be any good?
A: This would also be ok to use for rehearsal, and the frequency response on the mic is actually better than the BPHS2, which you also inquired about.
Q: 2. Is this compatible with a Panasonic HC-V750?
A: The basic answer is yes. This microphone is compatible with the 3.5mm audio input jack on that model according to the specs on this website. As for mounting, I cannot say. I've only mounted this mic on a stand.
Q: 3. will this mic work with my canon vixia HF R500?
A: Rico, it should work just fine, see page 84 of your manual. However, note that I do not see a hot-shoe mount on your canon model. Which means it would have to be attached to your camera somehow (rubberbands) or hand-held, which would not be optimal.
Q: 4. I have a Galaxy S9 Android phone. Is the connector in the TM-St1 removable so I could use the Rode SC7 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Patch Cable B&H # ROSC7? Or is there a TRS to TRRS adapter I could purchase?
A: The connecting cable is not removable.Use this adapter:Rode SC4 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Adaptor B&H # ROSC4
Q: 5. Does the headset have some sort of mute button?
A: No, there is mute button on this headset
Q: 6. I plug in wireless mics on the line in input, but nothing happens with the faders?
A: There's no reason why the line inputs should not work normally. Try isolating the problem. Make sure nothing is muted, all gain/volume controls are up, and you have a good signal coming into your mixer. Then check to see if all channel line inputs are inop or just that particular channel. If any or all line inputs do not work, do the xlr inputs work? Check to see if you have a signal from the insert. This is pre-fader, so if you do and there is still no output post fader then the problem is somewhere between your gain circuit and and output .
Q: 7. Does this mic work with the Nikon D90?
A: No. The D90 does not have an external mic input.
Q: 8. Any perspective on if this might make a good podcast headset? I'm considering pairing it with my RODECaster Pro for mobile podcast production. I'm thinking it would be simple to have mic and headshet cabling integrated (as opposed to mic stand, headphones and cable, mic and cable). Is audio quality solid?
A: This is a good choice for a podcast. It is actually a broadcast quality headset with full frequency response in both the headphone and mic.
Q: 9. I have a technical question, I'm hoping you can help. - I own a Zoom H5. - I have just purchased the BPHS1 - I want to record Skype interviews (for my podcast) but am a little unsure on how to configure Zoom to achieve this. From my Mac, I have a cable that goes from the audio out, into the TRS input #2 on the H5 - to record my guest's voice. My headset/mic will be plugged into the XLR input #1 on the H5 - to record my voice. What do I need to do, to be able to HEAR my guest's voice? Is there anything in particular I need to configure on the H5?
A: The scenario you are describing requires the routing of audio in a way that is a bit more complex, and would best be served by using a mixer and audio interface. Connect the BPHS1 into a mixer like the Alto ZMX862 Zephyr. Take AUX SEND 1 out and plug it into input 1 of an audio interface like the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface (2nd Generation). With regards to the skype audio in your computer, Take the master out of the audio interface and plug it into a stereo channel of the alto mixer. Now that all of the audio is in the mixer, take the master output and plug it into your Zoom H5 to record .
Q: 10. Is there a deadcat that works with this?
A: No, there is no deadcat style furry windscreen designed for the BPHS1 headset. The models we have available for other mics seem to be either too short or too long. You could purchase the Piece-A-Fur Wind Protection by Bubblebee Industries to cut a custom size fur windscreen to fit the mic. The fur pieces are available in different colors such as black (B&H # BUBBIPAFBK) and gray (B&H # BUBBIPAFGY). You will see the other options for colors listed on the item page. If you need to replace the foam windscreen, we have the Audio-Technica AT8162 Replacement Windscreens for BPHS1 - 3 Pack (B&H # AUAT8162), as well as the WindTech 1200 Series - 3/4" Inside Diameter - Black (B&H # WI1200B) and the Auray WHF-2040 Foam Windscreen For 3/4" Diameter Microphones (B&H # AUWHF2040).
