Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with Nikkor 18-55mm and Nikkor 55-300 mm lenses?

A: This filter will be compatible with the 18-55 Nikon lens, however the 55-300mm lens has a 58mm filter thread.

Q: 2. Will this fit a Nikon d3200 18-55mm lens

A: Nikon D3200 was bundle with the Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II Lens which has a 52mm filter thread size. You will need Tiffen 52mm Circular Polarizing Filter instead of the Tiffen 55mm Circular Polarizing Filter.

Q: 3. What is the possibility of vignetting with this lens if I use a 18-55 or 18-200 mm lens?

A: When these lenses are used on cropped sensor cameras, there should not be any vignetting. If this filter is attached on top of a UV filter, then there may be some vignetting at 18 mm.

Q: 4. What polarizing filter fits on Tamron 18-400mm Di II VC HLD?

A: Look around the end of the lens. Filter thread diameter is usually a number with a zero with a slash through it (symbol for diameter). If you cant find that, visit the manufacturers website or the product listed on B&H and look for the filter thread diameter under Specifications .

Q: 5. Are there any CPL's that do not adjust the amount of polarization?

A: A circular polarizer filter's job is to adjust the polarization of the light that passes through the filter. As such, every circular polarizer filter (CPL), including the Tiffen 82mm Circular Polarizing Filter, will adjust the amount of polarized light entering the lens onto which it is attached. As you set the amount of polarization by twisting the outer ring on the filter, you may set it from very little polarization (where it appears to have no effect) to maximum polarization based on the angle in which the light is entering the lens.

Q: 6. Can I combine this 77mm to Cokin Z series Holder?? Or how can I combine this stuff . I have Fuji XT3 with kit lens 18- 55mm (58o) . I bought step up ring 58 - 77mm to attach Cokin Z series Holder. Which polarizer should I get or how to attach this with IT??

A: You can mount the Tiffen 77CP filter on your lens as you normally would. This filter has front filter threads where you can then mount the Cokin filter adapter ring and the holder. Keep in mind that the CP filter outer ring rotates

Q: 7. Will the threads on this fit Tamron Auto Focus 200-500mm f/5.0-6.3 Di LD SP?

A: The designation on the lens will be 86C for coarse. Coarse threads have a 1.0 thread pitch. You may want to contact Tamron directly for the lens filter thread specifications.

Q: 8. I have a nikon 28-70mm lens but my question is whether this type of filter can be used on my lens? please reply

A: Hello. I am a canon user so I am not positive but yes I believe the Nikon lens you mentioned is 77mm and will be able to use this filter. If you look at the lens (usually the face near the front end) you will see a number like 67mm, 77mm etc ... if the lens reads 77mm you will be able to screw this filter on.

Q: 9. Does it come with a case/pouch or do I need to buy one seperately?

A: Should come in a hard plastic, indestructible Tiffen case. I have a soft folding filter folio that velcros closed, in which I put my filters to carry with me.

Q: 10. One of the reviews stated that it does not cover the whole image . Just curious if anyone else noted vignetting with FX formats. I would use it with a 24-70 mm Nikon lens (sometimes I stack with a UV filter if I can't remove that quickly) - don't know if they were doing this or not).

A: The vignetting is caused by you have turned too much, you should turn back a little bit to allow both top corners to reduce the vignetting

Skylight filters are in the past, since I don't depend on a printer to print my photos like in film days. No need for that slight pink tone for skin tones anymore either. I can do that myself in post-processing. A UV Haze? I didn't see much use for that one where I live. When it's hazy in southern Indiana, it's not a good shoot day anyway. Solution? A clear filter. I'm so pleased I'm ordering another today, for another lens. Eventually, I'll get one for all my lenses. The filter ring is small-just like with the high end filters, but at a reasonable price.

For the low price, I was surprised at how durable it felt holding it in my hands. With how expensive lenses can be, it makes sense to spend a lot on protective filters to protect from weather/damage, but I'm glad I went with this filter.
