The L-20S 2-Way Pan/Tilt Head from Sirui is designed for use on a monopod, although it can be used on a tripod or any other support with a 3/8"-16 threaded stud. The head can hold up to 55.1 lb, allowing it to be used with heavier telephoto lenses. Separate locks control the +/-90° front-to-back tilt and the 360° panning.

To quickly attach your camera to the head, an Arca-type compatible quick release plate is included with a safety lock on the clamp to prevent it from accidentally falling out. Bull's eye and tubular bubble levels help ensure straight horizons, while numbered scales aid with repeatable pans and tilts. A case is included to protect the head when it is not in use.

A: I just purchased this pan head for my mono pod. I love it. As a matter of fact I liked it so much I just purchased another one for a gift for a friend. The quick release plate that comes with the unit attaches to the camera. It tilts and adjusts very smoothly.

Q: 5. Using an L bracket, can this head be used for vertical panos?

A: Although it is possible to attach an L-bracket to the Sirui L-20S 2-Way Pan/Tilt Head, it has not been tested as a head for shooting vertical panoramic images. The results may vary in this case.

Q: 6. Does this head actually tilt up to 90 degrees? Its photo shows the thread mark up to 90 but the hole doesn't seem to go far as 90 but stops around 75 in both directions. Just wanting to make sure since I need the head to tilt up to 90 degrees.

A: Yes it does tilt 90% in both directions and the head will rotate a full 360% if you tilt 90% with the camera for portrait orientation on a tripod or monopod you cannot tilt the camera up or down,,,,if you set up the camera to tilt up or down with the 90% now you cannot tilt 90% for portrait orientation,,,,not as versatile as a ball head and as I have mine on a monopod not a tripod and i have my camera on the head set up for 90% for portrait shooting i just tilt my monopod forward or back for up and down shooting..

Q: 8. I use RRS L brackets on my Fuji X bodies. Will the Arca-Swiss type clamp on this head hold RRS plates and L brackets securely?

A: I have used it with a Kirk L bracket with no issues.

Q: 9. Are the clamp and plate Arca Swiss compatible?

A: Yes the clamp and plate are both Arca-Swiss compatible.

I do a lot of night photography, especially milky way. I previously used a ball-head and found it difficult to do pano images for merging in Lightroom. The L-20S has proven to be a stable choice. After leveling, the panning capability is smooth and the locking mechanism works nicely. I am using a Nikon D7200 with a variety of lenses. For anyone trying to get stable panning this is a great option. 5

Great product. I do a lot of bird photography with heavy long lenses. So I need a sturdy head for my monopod and this one checks all the boxes. The Sirui L-20S is perfect for following birds in flights, and adapting to difficult angles. The adjustment control knobs operate smoothly and lock down firmly. The padded soft case was a plus. I highly recommend this product. 5

You might wonder why these are so expensive, well the old saying is true here, you get what you pay for. You can feel the quality as you loosen and tighten the knobs to adjust your camera angle. Be aware that it is not light weight. This is a solidly built head. Quickly change positions and hold it there with this. Sirui is very well built and smooth. 5

I placed the L20S pan head on a Sirius Monopod to support a Nikon 400 mm F2 prime lens. I use this primarily for photographing ducks. The pan head supports the heavy lens and smoothly pivots and pans. The support it gives this heavy lens gives me the confidence to wade in the water without worrying about the pan head failing and dunking my equipment 5
