Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If I use this mic with the Zoom H5n as a preamp, do I need to buy a cloudlifter?

A: A Cloudlifter would be advised, because the output of the Shure SM7B is notoriously low. The mic pre amp 's on the Zoom H5n do not have enough gain, and you will have to tun up almost to the highest level, which would introduce noise in the signal. The loudlifter will add +25dB of clean gain, and make your recordings sound professional.

Q: 2. If I buy the broadcast kit do all of the parts come in their original boxes or is it all repackaged together?

A: All of the parts come in their original boxes.

Q: 3. Need a recommendation for a voice mic to use with an M BOX Mini currently using a SHURE PE 515, I also have a SHURE 545L which I have not tried. Or, if I get a Shure SM7B will I be able to use my Passport 150 Pro as a pre-amp for the M BOX Mini?

A: The Shure SM7B is very low in natural since its a dynamic mic it needs alot of gain from your M BOX asnd doing so will introduce hiss from the M BOX bringing noise level up. The best we can advice is to get a cloud lifter and this will eliminate and hiss giving you a 25db of a boost.

Q: 4. Why can't you ship the Shure SM7B to Australia?

A: This is a restriction placed on all USA authorized Shure dealers and enforced by SHURE USA.

Q: 5. does it come with a mic cord?

A: Yes it does. A 15 ft XLR to 1/4 cable is included.

Q: 6. To use it in Europe do I need to have 110v to 220v converter?

A: To power the Cloudlifter CL2, all you need is 48v phantom power from your audio interface or mic pre-amp.

Q: 7. Is this good for screams/yelling like heavy metal?

A: Yes, the sensitivity and gain range of the Shure SM7B Vocal Microphone make it a good option for loud vocal signals.

Q: 8. Does this mic require phantom power?

A: This is a dynamic microphone, so no power is required. The SM7B is known to have a low gain output, so often a gain booster is used with the mic to give you more headroom and to avoid any noise in the signal. When using a gain booster, such as the Coudlifter, phantom power is required to power that unit.

Q: 9. what are the dimensions? I want to get a pelican case for it and get as small of one as possible.

A: The dimensions of the Shure SV100-W are 3.5 x 4.5 x 10.8 inches. And it weighs in at 8.6 ounces.

Q: 10. does this grille fir on a shure sm58 microphone?

A: We can not guarantee compatibility with an SM58. For a guaranteed replacement for the SM58, here is this grill BH #SHRK143G.

I had been using an SM57 microphone for voice until I could save my lunch money to get the SM7B/Cloudlifter kit. Once it arrived, I immediately installed it and noticed an improved difference in the way my voice sounds. I am definitely glad that I have this kit.

My wife is a DJ at a local community radio station, where they use this mic in the broadcast booth. When the pandemic forced everyone out of the station she started recording her weekly show from home, using an Audio Technica 4050-CM5. While that is an excellent general-use mic, it was lacking the low-end warmth she was accustomed to hearing on her talk breaks.

This mic was designed from the ground up to be used for the human voice in close proximity and it does the job like no other. The one caveat is that, like any piece of professional gear, it requires a high-quality mic preamp. I use an FMR Audio Real Nice Preamp (RNP), and the results are professional-quality talk breaks.

I am one of those new transplants that had seen this mic in a lot of videos and podcasts, and decided to shamelessly mimic.

This mic sounds absolutely fantastic and is the most premium built microphone I have ever handled. The presence boost makes such a huge difference out of the box and I am constantly being complimented on my audio quality now.

I am very glad I bought this mic. Well worth the investment.
