I shoot only primes with only one exception and this is not it. PhaseOne/IQ260, Arca Swiss, Fuji...it doesn't matter. if you want the best from a lens...you by prime. HOWEVER: if your purpose says you MUST have this range for some unknown reason and you cannot live without that range AND your budget says NO to primes...then, of course, you shoot the 10-24.

Q: 3. Can the Fujinon XF 18mm F/2$ lens hood be used on the FujiFilm XF 27mm 2.8 prime pancake lens? Thanks

A: The lens hood for the Fujinon XF 18mm f/2 R lens will not fit on the XF 27mm 2.8 lens. The hood is a dedicated hood and only for that one lens.The XF 27mm lens is new and Fuji has not has not released the hood for it. We will post on the 27mm lenses product page the correct lens hood ASAP.

this lens hood helped cushin the impact to my 14mm 2.8 fuji took into soft mud when i slipped backwards, it cracked, but did its job, fuji clear filter undammaged, as well as functions to lens protected, I like this little original fuji production hood 5

Not much I can say here, but this hood does what it should and works well with the 18-55 and 16-50 Fuji lenses (purchased it because I got a used 18-55 from B&H that didn't include the hood). Hoods are useful in both protecting your lenses and also keeping stray light from entering the lens creating flare. A hood in general must-have for any lens and for any photography level, beginner or pro. 5
