The angled eyepiece permits comfortable glassing whether standing, sitting or lying flat on the ground. You'll need pipe insulation around your tripod too for cushioning to your shoulder when carrying it. As one who works in astronomy, I recommend inexpensive Astro-Tech ED planetary eyepieces (Paradigm Dual ED), or Televue (much more expensive) as superior to the zoom eyepiece supplied. Note that Celestron does have some quality control issues, but are great at replacing defective gear.
