Protect your Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4E FL ED VR lens against scrapes and light impact with the LensCoat TravelCoat in Realtree AP Snow camo. Made in the USA from 3mm closed-cell neoprene, it offers shock absorption and is designed to safeguard your lens when not in use--especially during trips when it's stowed in a bag or pack. The cover is custom-made to fit the lens, in order to take up as little space as possible and maximize your room for packing and storage. This model is meant to be used without the hood on the lens.

The TravelCoat slides over the lens quickly and easily, and is secured via touch-fastener closure. It should be used with the appropriate optional LensCoat Hoodie Lens Cap for total protection. Additionally, it works well with LensCoat Lens Covers, which slip directly over the lens and are designed for use when shooting outdoors.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens work with the Nikon D780, and provide all functions?

A: Yes, the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4E FL ED VR Lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D780 DSLR Camera. All lens functions can be used.

Q: 2. Will this work with the TC14EIII teleconverter?

A: The Nikon AF-S Teleconverter TC-14E III is compatible with this lens.

Q: 3. Would this lens work with my Nikon D7100 camera and would the AF work at all f stops?

A: This lens will work fine with the Nikon D7100. Concern about f/stops comes into play only if the maximum aperture is too small for whatever camera is being used to focus with. This is a concern with tele-extenders and cameras less than the top level. Since you are not using any tele-extender, and the focus aperture is f/4 and the lens will stop down to whatever aperture you select for the shot, there will be no issue regarding AF or f/stops.

Q: 4. Power Consumption? Just mounted this to a Z7 which was previously used with a 200-500 F5.6 Nikkor. The power consumption with it seems very high compared to the zoom. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks

A: We have not heard of any issue regarding this lens. We suggest testing with a fresh battery. If you are finding a noticeable difference in the power usage and you have had the lens from B&H less than 30 days, please contact B&H Customer Service regarding an exchange or return.

Q: 5. Has Anyone who owns this lens found a good quality plate that fits well?

A: I recommend that you replace the factory foot with a Kirk LP-47, which has an Arca-Swiss base. You'll save weight and have a more stable base compared with adding a plate to the factory foot. In addition, the Kirk foot is designed perfectly to accept a BlackRapid shoulder strap connector.

Q: 6. will this lens suffer performance when attached to the Z9 via the FTZ II lens adapter?

A: The performance of this Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4E FL ED VR Lens would not suffer when attaching it to the Nikon Z9 via the FTZ II Lens Adapter.

Q: 7. Anyone use the 600 for sports? I currently use a 300mm f/2.8 on a D850 and find it too short for soccer/rugby fields. great for baseball and basketball. Not sure if I need to go to 400-500-600mm.

A: Given the much greater 600mm telephoto reach, if your current longest lens is a 300mm then this would be a worthy addition. To get an idea of what that would be like, at 600mm you're seeing 25 percent of the frame you see when you're at 300mm. That's four times as "close." Having said that, especially since you're shooting with such a high resolution camera, you'll want to use a tripod or monopod so that camera shake doesn't rob you of any of the detail that your sensor can capture.

Q: 8. Will this lens work with a D5500?

A: Yes

Q: 9. will this contain a 600mm f/4E FL with a lenscoat neoprene cover already on it?

A: This Lens Coat Travel Coat for Nikon 600mm f/4E FL ED VR Lens designed specifically for the lens.

Q: 10. Does the lens coat cover keep out moisture, dust, sand, and heat? I photograph in the desert south west. The sun beating down on a black lens can get really hot! Any remedies?

A: No, the lens coat protects for the following Protection Against Scrapes/Light Bumps Helps Maintain Resale Value of Lens Provides Thermal Barrier
