To get an idea of what that would be like, at 600mm you're seeing 25 percent of the frame you see when you're at 300mm. That's four times as "close." Having said that, especially since you're shooting with such a high resolution camera, you'll want to use a tripod or monopod so that camera shake doesn't rob you of any of the detail that your sensor can capture.
