$298.50 $382.08

The Tiffen 77mm Low Contrast 5 Filter can be applied to purposely reduce contrast while photographing an image or while recording video. By redistributing illumination from brighter to darker areas within a scene, this filter is useful in helping to balance the tonal range among highlights and shadows. Detail is increased within shadow regions while a halation effect around highlights is created which can further enhance a scene's appearance or produce a desired effect.

This filter has a grade of 5. Grades of 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, and 4 are also available where this filter type's effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the total thickness of this filter?

A: Are you referring to the glass, or the aluminum filter ring?

Q: 2. I just need the adapter gasket for a GS 430 Lexus

A: What is the filter thread size?

Q: 3. Can you use this filter on top of a Circular Polarizer?

A: yes, you can. I always do

Q: 4. Hi, is it possible to buy 2 of these, and screw on 1 or 2 more filter holders to a single unit? I'd like to be able to use up to 3 or 4 filters at once, and see they have a small screws on the front which seems if you remove would let you add more holders.

A: I see no way to do this with the Tiffen holder. However, Lee makes A 2x foundation kit with tandem adapter that looks like it solves the problem. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/352443-REG/Sigma_F309306_EM_140_DG_Macro_Ring.html

Q: 5. without front threads, what lens cap can I use this filter?

Q: 6. Does this have female threads on the outside to attach a ND filter ?

A: The Tiffen 77mm Circular Polarizing Wide Angle (Low Profile Design) Filter does not have front filter threads.

Q: 7. Does this have front 95mm threads? (I'm assuming so, but just checking.)

A: Yes, the K&F Concept Nano-X Series Ultra-Low Reflection CPL Filter (95mm) has 95mm threads.

Q: 8. Whats the benefits of this over the non digital version for half the price? I notice the coating and titanium ring but my question is more about image/color quality.

A: This filter uses optical quality glass, is uncoated and uses an aluminum filter ring. The Digital HT version uses Water White (highest quality) glass, is multi-coated and uses a titanium coated ring. The mulit-coating makes the glass more scratch resistant, easier to clean and less chance of reflections. The HT filters meet or exceed military specifications as well. The difference in image color/quality will be tough to see when comparing the two, the difference is more in construction quality.

Q: 9. Can anyone tell me what the dot markings represent in amount of stops of light being reduced? Is the min setting 2 stops immediately and what does each progressive dot on the scale represent in stops of light reduced? Are they fractions of stops or whole stops? (I assume 'max' equals 8 stops of light reduced) Thanks for any feedback in advance!

A: Justin... the dots on the filter ring are just reference points and do not relate to actual stop values. At the MIN setting you are at 2 stops, at the MAX setting you are at 8 stops. Between those two points there is no way to determine the exact stop value. If you need to know the exact stop value we also manufacture solid ND filters in a variety of stop values.

Q: 10. Does it work for 18-35mm Sigma Lens ? Blackmagic6kg2?

A: Yes Tiffen 72mm Variable Neutral Density Filter is compatible with Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens for Canon EF
