Long-reaching telephoto zoom is designed for APS-C-format FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras and offers a 152-609mm equivalent focal length range.

Five extra-low dispersion elements and one Super ED element are used to greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce high clarity and color fidelity throughout the zoom range.

A five stop-effective optical image stabilization system Minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.

Twin linear motors deliver quick, quiet, and smooth autofocus performance that is especially beneficial when working with fast-moving subjects.

A focus limiter switch on the side of the lens barrel lets you constrain the focusing range to either the full range of 5.7' to infinity, or from 16.4' to infinity for faster focusing performance with distant subjects.

The lens body incorporates 13 distinct weather seals in 12 locations to protect against dust and moisture, and to enable worry-free use in inclement conditions and freezing temperatures as low as 14°F. Additionally, a fluorine coating has been applied to the front lens element to guard against smudging, moisture, and dust.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contribute to a pleasing out-of-focus quality to benefit the use of selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques.

Zoom-lock switch prevents unwanted zoom creep from occurring and also can be used to maintain the same zoom position while shooting.

A removable, rotating tripod collar allows for well-balanced mounting and shooting when working from a tripod or monopod.

The included lens hood incorporates a sliding window to allow easier adjustment of rotating filters, such as a polarizer, while the hood is installed.

Compatible with optional XF 1.4x TC WR and XF 2x TC WR teleconverters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Fujixt2 remote shutter release

A: Please clarify..asking about lens or camera operation?

Q: 2. Does the lens come with a tripod collar?

A: The rotating tripod collar is built into the lens and non-removable. Although the tripod mount is removable and held in by 2 heavy duty screws.

Q: 3. Does the Fujifilm T2 autofocus with the 2X teleconverter and the 100-400mm lens?

A: I have the 1.4x converter and use it with the 100-400mm lens. Yes, autofocus works just like the original lens with no converter. But with revised specs for focal length and aperture. I notice a very slight deterioration clarity for the 1.4x which is still acceptable. You might consider the 1.4x over the 2.0x depending on your telephoto needs. Combined with the 1.5x lens adjustment factor on the X-T2 that already gives pretty good reach.

Q: 4. Lenses only?

A: Don't understand the question!

Q: 5. What is the filter size? Specs on the Fuji web site indicate that it is 77mm but photos of the lens show 82mm.

A: At of the date of this response (01-15-2016), the only information we have on the Fujifilm XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens is the information listed on Fujifilm's website and released in their press release. On their website, Fujifilm states the filter thread size of the XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens is 77mm. As the lens has just been announced, but not yet released, you would have to contact Fujifilm directly for more information on the lens at this time. bit.ly/18LIUP9

Q: 6. Is it possible to buy a larger tripod mount/handle?Because this one is a bit too small.

A: No.

Q: 7. What is the weight of this Fuji lens XF 100-400 and what is the weight of the XF 55-200?

A: The 55-200mm is 20.46 oz / 580 g.

Q: 8. Is there a manual aperture ring on this lens? If so, does it have positive clicks as it is rotated thru different f stops?

A: Yes it does have the clicks.

Q: 9. Does this lens work with Olympus mirrorless cameras or Panasonic mirrorless cameras as well?

A: Sorry but it's lens mount to the camera is an X mount. The only way it would work is if you have a lens mount converter

Q: 10. Most of the photos on the website with this lens look as if the shooters missed focus. Is this the lens, website, or shooter?

A: The Fujifilm XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens has good optical performance. I am not sure of the focus issue you are seeing, or if the issue may simply be caused by missed focus, improper exposure, or simply the compression algorithm when uploading the image to the internet. In any case, if you purchase the lens and you are not happy with the performance of the Fujifilm XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens, you may return the lens within 30 days for an exchange or a refund.

This is a very sharp lens, combined with a 2x tele-converter you have great reach. I added a swiss arca plate so that it fits nicely with my Really Right Stuff ball heads.

I have used this lens during the last 3 years. Decided to write a review as it is well deserved. The combo of xt4 and xf 100-400 has been my go to lens for every wildlife ocasion and even some landscapes. I do edit my photos with either LR or On1 Photo Raw. But soc is decent and noise is easily removed. I prefer this lens over the 150-600 for it's weight and versatility. Taking into account that my camera is older, both OIS work great. Most of my photos are either hand held or with a monopod. I am over 60 yrs old and I can carry this very easily with a small harness I bought from the Am company. ABSOLUTE RECOMENDATION. Camera settings are easy and I didn't change upgraded the latest firmware on purpose. Photos were taken last week!

I was able to take the lens out of the box up to the badlands in South Dakota. Having recently switched from full frame with large older non-stabilized lenses to the XT1 and now the XT2 I was amazed at the sharpness I can achieve hand held at 400 mm at 1/40th. Would have gotten nothing useable in the past. So from the cracks and crevices of Mt. Rushmore to every hair on the bison in the fields I am truly impressed.

I had reservations about the 2x converter and consequent f/11 aperture, but Fuji makes this work very well in good light. Much sharper than expected. Fast autofocus. Nice images when paired with X-T2.

This lens is probably my favorite of all the Fuji lenses I have used. I had felt that there was a gap in the lenses for the Fuji X series in that there was not a long range zoom lens and they have now filled that with a magnificent lens. This lens holds true to the Fuji line in being a very solidly built lens which performs awesome. I have went out and did a lot of shooting with this lens under a wide variety of circumstances and have been extremely pleased with the results. This lens is sharp wide open at the center and holds up very well at the edges. I was pleasantly surprised with how sharp it is wide open and at every range from 100 to 400 mm. This lens is by far superior to any Nikon I had owned previously at a similar range. Also, the image stabilization is amazing! It is easy to show that you get four stops, if not five, when using it. This is especially valuable with this lens when using such a long range zoom. The focusing speed is also a great. It is very fast and performs very accurately even in limited lighting situations. The only thing that I found was that I was not able to track birds as well as I had with my Nikon but I am sure that is more in the X-T1 that I use versus the lens. It still does very well in this, just not as good as my Nikon did which practically never lost a bird I was following. The bokeh with this lens is excellent also. I was really pleased with how smooth and pleasing the background looked in my close-up shots. This was better than I expected with this being a zoom lens, and that is saying a lot with how great every lens Fuji rolls out is. All I can say about this lens is that if you are looking for a terrific long range zoom, then you will not be let down by this lens!!

My caveat: this is the first long lens I've ever used or owned. That said, one can be assured this lens manifests the same attention to detail, ergonomics, quality of manufacture and image capture as all the other lenses in the XF line up. It is stable in the hands, well-balanced, smooth of action, relatively quick to focus in autofocus mode and generally easy to use hand held, even for someone well into his seventies. I chose the Fujifilm X-mount line of products--I have X T-1 and X Pro1 bodies, three prime and three multi-focal length lenses--because its range of image making options is extensive, the bodies and lenses are solidly and thoughtfully built, and the technology is up to date. Every combination is a delight to use. I have already captured some fine bird and wildlife images with the XF 100-400 and know that more and better will come with experience.

I purchased this lens to round out my Fuji lens collection and as has been the case so far, I am far from disappointed. This lens is a BEAST! The images I've captured have been excellent. I was concerned with the performance of the lens, due to its relatively small maximum aperture, but coupled with either my Xt1 and even my XPro1 with their excellent high ISO image quality, this turned out to be no problem at all even with the 1.4X teleconverter. The images are quite crisp and the color rendition seems to be spot-on.The only complaint I might have would be the weight due to the diminutive size of my cameras, but that is offset by the excellent balance of the lens when mounted to either body particularly the Xt1 with the vertical battery grip. I went to the park the day my lens arrived and took several images both hand held and with the tripod using sensitivity ranging from 400 to 1600 and every one came out very well. I would suggest that if you plan on walking around a lot, that you use a strap like the Black Rapid curve with the strap mounted to the shoe on the lens which allows the camera to be comfortably balanced at your side until needed. This lens is definitely one I would recommend to anyone who needs a long lens for nature or sports photography. It's a little pricey but the results are worth the money.
