Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the stand and telescoping boom made of?

A: The boom is made from solid core iron, the base is cast, and the vertical pole looks like iron, too, although Tama does not specify. https://www.tama.com/usa/products/detail/ms756lbk.html

Q: 2. Will I need an adapter to attach a pistol grip with a 3/8"-16 female threading?

A: Yes you will, here's an option B&H # ONMA100.

Q: 3. can boom be sparated from stand?

A: Yes, boom can be separated from stand without any problem.

Q: 4. Can you separate the vertical rod from the base tripod?

A: Yes, the boom can be separated from the base in a few different ways. This is a very versatile and configurable stand.

Q: 5. Can a microphone be mounted on the tripod tube with the boom removed? What is the thread size of the tripod tube?

A: The threads on the tube of the K&M 25977 Tripod Microphone Stand with Telescoping Boom are 5/8"-27. The boom arm can be removed from the stand.

Q: 6. What kind of mic mount does this take?

A: The MS-5230T features a 5/8 threading compatible with most standard mic clips and mounts.

Q: 7. I think the description is wrong. No way this stand goes up to 21 feet. Is this correct?

A: According to the datasheet from K&M, the 25977 stand goes up to 24.6" https://www.k-m.de/us/kmPdf/datasheet/ordernumber/US-25977-500-55

Q: 8. Can this be mounted to the desk rather than using the c-clamp?

A: Instead of using the C-clamp to mount the THRONMAX S6 Twist Boom Arm Stand, you can use a flange mount, which would require drilling a hole through the tabletop for permanent installation.

Q: 9. Whats the difference between a K&M 210/8 and a 210/9 boom stand?

A: A 210/9 has almost entirely metal components. This is the best boom mic stand in my opinion, and B&H has the best price!

Q: 10. How tall is the mic stand itself, or how hight does it extend without the boom arm?

A: The base of the Auray MS-5230T Tripod Microphone Stand reaches a height of up to 63 inches. The telescoping boom arm can extend up to 33.9". Together these components allow the MS-5230T to reach a total height of almost 96 inches when the arm is oriented directly upwards.

Stand is sturdy and locks down well. I like the compact nature and flexibility of the boom arm. So far so good.
