Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit 100x100 filters like the Lee Big Stopper?

A: Yes. The 100mm x 100mm Big Stopper filter is actually 3.9 x 3.9 . I have the Lee 4 x 4 filters and they easily fit.

Q: 2. How many threads per inch?

A: It has a density of 1.5 stops. Thread count is not specified.

Q: 3. How many dtops of diffusion does this fabric have, please?

A: Liba Fabrics does not list how much light the Liba Fabrics White Artificial Silk Diffusion Fabric (60" x 5-Yard Roll) absorbs. The average for White Artificial Silk Diffusion is about 1.6 stops of light.

Q: 4. I have a recessed light fixture trim with a built in LED light engine with an output of 840 lumens. This fixture is on the same switch/dimmer system as adjacent LED fixture with a lumen output of 450 lumens. How many layers/filters would I need to get the 840 lumen fixture's output down to the 400/500 lumen range ?

A: ND .03 is 1 stop. 1 stop is 100% more light up or 50% less down. To go from 800 to 400 you would need 1 layer.

Q: 5. Is there any information available on transmittance/absorption as a function of wavelength for this product? I would like to know how it affects CRI and CCT.

A: Since the Cinefoil is opaque and is intended for use as a masking product, the transmission would be zero. While Rosco lists the transmission/absorption on their site, it would be limited to color filters only.

Q: 6. What are dimensions of this diffusion filter? I lost the two that came with my kit, ID508-v2

A: The dimensions of this filter would be the same as in its original packaging, which are 13.0 x 6.5 x 0.1".

Q: 7. Will this filter holder attach to a tripod? Can one also put the filter holder/adapter in this pouch along with 1 or 2 filters? Thanks

A: The holder will not, in and of itself, attach to a tripod. There is a fabric loop-type feature sewn to the back of the holder which is too tight to the holder to directly attach to a hook on a tripod but you could use rope or similar material to attach the loop on the back of this holder to a hook on a tripod. Yes the holder is large enough to hold the filter holder and one or two filters but I prefer to keep them separate, as I am afraid of breaking the filters so I want to have more padding between my filters and the filter holder.

Q: 8. What is the difference between the material of this and LEE Filters 400 LEELux Filter (60" x 20")?

A: The LEE Filters 216 White Diffusion Filter (60" x 25' Roll with 1" Core) and the LEE Filters 400 LEELux Filter (60" x 20' Roll on 1" Core) in use are the same.

Q: 9. How is this installed?

A: You can use gaff tape https://bhpho.to/3353R3h.

Q: 10. How is this material under flourescent lighting? Is it still daylight balanced neutral color?

A: First yes it is a neutral color. However, it is not color correction i.e. won't make fluorescent light daylight balanced. It is diffusion material for nocking down strong light sources such as sunlight or a spotlight. The color temperature of the light source is not changed. If you are looking to change the color temp. check out Lee or Rosco color correcting gels. Also look at the fluorescent tubes if they are daylight it would be printed on the tube. You can purchase daylight tubes too.
