Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this mount on a light stand and still having a tilt function?

A: Yes. Though I use a cold shoe to mount on stand and that also has a tilt function.

Q: 2. Does anyone had issues with the battery mount in the back? 2 weeks ago I've taking it to do some ENG and for some reason the contact seems to be off and I had to wiggle the battery in the mount. Now, writting those lines the contacts seems OK after wiggleling the battery. I've been using the battery that came with and some Sony NP-F970 batteries for longer shoot. I've also tried this issue with the DC input and it works fine.

A: If you have had it less than 30 days, contact B&H Customer Service. If longer, then contact VidPro for service. Vidpro Tel: 718-523-2900 Website http://www.vidprousa.com/ Email Support@VidProUSA.com

Q: 3. ARE THE BARN DOORS REMOVABLE?

A: The barn doors are integrated in to this light. It will not be advisable to attempt to take them off.

Q: 4. Is the adjustable hotshot mount removable from the LED unit?

A: Yes, it's attached with a screw. Normally, you loosen the screw to tilt the light. But if you remove the shoe mount you'll end up with a plastic post that's part of the light housing and slides into the shoe mount. The screw passes through the shoe mount and this post to hold the shoe mount to the light housing.

Q: 5. Its a metal hot shoe or plastic?

A: Yes, the shoe is metal.

Q: 6. Why only for video? What about night street photography?

A: You answered your own question. Why not. Just use it .Its portable and light. Go for it.

Q: 7. hello, is 100% flickering free? thank you

A: All I can say is that we have not had any flicker issues shooting with Panasonic HPX300 video cameras using standard shutter settings.

Q: 8. Can or does this replace the traditional flash? Seems like it could.

A: John, In a word no, because this light provides a very different effect than a traditional on-camera flash. Best to do an in store test to see the difference. Peter

Q: 9. This may be a stupid question but would this light be compatible with a stabilizer? I mean weight wise. I have the axler nimbus dual axis stabilizer and i use a panasonic g7 to film. The stabilizer has multiple 1/4 inch mounting holes on the top but i feel like the vidpro led would make the stabilizer top heavy resulting in it being impossible to balance. Am i right or wrong?

A: I haven't used a stabilizer, so I can't answer for sure. This light is not heavy, but I assume that any weight you add will throw off the balance, unless you can counterbalance. Good luck.

Q: 10. Do the color and dimming settings remain after powering off/on?

A: Yes, since this Vidpro LED-330X light has analog (dial) controls, the unit will return to its current state after power restored.

This is a good deal as lights go. As an LED, it doesn't use up much power (battery will last), and it even allows you to adjust the color temp of the light. That means you can calibrate your camera's white balance to the K of the light itself, no matter where you are, and get a natural-looking image. As someone who is not an expert in color temp, I find this a big plus. I will not, however, that the color temp range goes from 3200 to 5600 only, and my camera has custom settings of 6000K and 7000K (for 'Shade' and 'Cloudy' respectively). Not sure how to deal with that yet, but otherwise great.

To good to be true and for so little cost.

This light intensity is amazing! The fact that the color temperature is adjustable is an added bonus. The barn doors can seem a bit overbearing when you don't have use for them but they're extremely useful for the times when you do need them. I would love if there is an option to make them detachable but for this price point, I can care less about more amenities. It was a steal!

Just shot a recital in a rather dark location. I used this light and two others to light three different areas. The light worked great, very happy with it.

I shot with this last night and it performs according to specs -- certainly not a main light but for highlights and rim lighting (w/c is what I bought this for) this certainly does the job. It's light, I love the barndoors and real easy on batteries. Very happy with it.

Love it, going to buy another one with the new camera I will be getting. The dimmer and color contrasting buttons makes this totally an awesome cost effective camera top light. If your a heavy user like me then invest in an additional battery, on 1st couple of uses my light charge went out after about 5 hours of use, note this was right out of box with no initial charging done.

This light is a fantastic value. It's very compact, light, and versatile. I love the dimmer and variable color and everything has worked great so far. I have used it as both a key light and as an accent. For the price and size, I can't imagine a better solution, and I'm going to buy at least one more, if not two. My only criticism is of the battery because there's no indication of battery level, so it just shuts off when dead. Average life of a new battery is 40 minutes, which is pretty good, when there is no power available.

This light just a few years ago would have been deemed a miracle by video professionals and could have sold for one or two thousand dollars. I own an Antin Bauer on-camera hdmi that cost me $1000 years ago it doesnt come even close to this light in terms of brightness or versatility. That you can buy this today for under a hundred is just stunning. You could buy 4 and make a homebuilt array to rival large led lights costing much more. My only wish is that the dimmer could go lower than the 10% minimum brightness as that is still too bright for some uses but I guess a filter can take care of that. Also the sturdiness of the shoe looks like it could break if pushed hard so may require some care in use.

This light has every feature I was looking for. I'm using them as a continuous light source for macro photography which requires a lot of light. But I needed something small enough to tuck in close to my lens and light enough to be put on the end of an articulating arm. I really wanted barn doors and this light is the only one I found in this price range that had them. The rheostat switch that covers 10-100% power allows me to achieve a nice plasticity with two lights that a ring light can't deliver. These lights are not too heavy but seem to be well made. Conveniently, they come with both battery and charger and an AC adapter. Really nice lights.
