The LuxGear Follow Focus Gear Ring from Cool-Lux is a seamless lens gear for lenses with a focus-barrel diameter of 72 to 73.9mm. It features standard 0.8-mod/32-pitch geared teeth that makes it compatible with cine-style follow focus systems. The gear slides onto your focus ring from the front or back of the lens and holds securely without the clamps, screws or zip ties that can interfere with your follow focus and limit your lens's rotation.

This gear is precision molded in high-durometer silicone and is available in 16 sizes, each designed to fit lenses within a two-millimeter diameter range, ensuring a tight compression fit on the focus barrel. To find the appropriate sized gear for your lens, please see the lens compatibility chart and sizing tools accessible by clicking on "Guides & Manuals."

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it work for a Sigma 16mm F1.4 m4/3 lens?

A: Yes it will, the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Micro Four Thirds has a 72.2mm outside diameter.

Q: 2. does it work on panasonic leica 10-25mm F1.7 lens?

A: It does not. That lens has an 87.6mm diameter. Instead you will need BH #COLG8687 which works with an outer diameter between 86 to 87.9mm. https://bhpho.to/3d01Rzi

Q: 3. Would this fit the Nikon 24-70 2.8 ED lens?

A: I have several Nikon Nikkor lenses and purchased a few Cool-Lux LuxGears to fit them. The Cool-Lux website has charts showing which gears go with which lenses, but I actually measured the circumference of each of my lenses to determine the proper sizes to order. And, the rings I ordered fit perfectly.

Q: 4. Will this work on a Leica R 35mm f2?

A: Check your focus ring diameter. If it's between 60-61,9mm this ring will work. On the Lux gear site there are helpful charts and indications. Good luck

Q: 5. Is there any way to get one of these to fit on Fujinon lenses (specifically the 16-55) with their goofy expanded bevel behind the initial ring diameter and contracted lens width inside it?

A: On unusual lenses like the Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR Lens B&H # FU165528, we suggest this type of lens gear since it can fit on any lenses flat service. Wide Open Camera Universal Lens Gear B&H # WILU.

Q: 6. Does this work with the Sigma 18-35 Art lens, considering it has 72 mm in diameter?

A: You chose wisely. This gear is listed by the company to fit the Sigma 18-35mm.

Q: 7. Does this work for the Sigma 18-35 art lens?

A: It will not. The Sigma Art 18-35mm lens has a outer diameter of 78mm. Instead you would want the Cool-Lux LuxGear Follow Focus Gear Ring (78 to 79.9mm), B&H # COLG7879. This should work with that lens. https://bhpho.to/2r2qXr6

Q: 8. Will this work with tilta nucleus nano?

A: Yes, the Cool-Lux LuxGear Follow Focus Gear Ring features standard 0.8-mod/32-pitch geared teeth that makes it compatible with cine-style follow focus systems, including the Tilta Nucleus Nano.

Q: 9. I have already made mistakes 2 times. What diameter should I use with Canon 100-400 mkII? On the widest part of focus ring.

A: I wish I could help but I have Nikon lenses myself. Best thing to do is check the specs on the canon webpage or contact canon direct to get the lens diameter.Failing that take a piece of masking tape and put it tightly around the lens barrel where the focus ring is. Take a pen or marker and put a line on the tape so it over laps the tape. Take the tape off and accurately measure the distance to get the circumference of the lens. Divide this number by Pi or 3.1416 to get your diameter of the lens.

Q: 10. As for the Sigma 18-35mm Art lens, will it fit both rings (zoom & focus).... or is the zoom diameter different from the focus diameter?

A: zoom is different, smaller. my caliper measures 75mm.

I use Cool-Lux follow focus gear ring for all my Milvus, Otus and Loxia lenses...not for video but for manual focusing. Easier to grip and lock focus. Considering their relatively modest costs, I would have to rate them as my most useful accessory. The only exception to this is my classic Zeiss 135mm f2 with the beautifully grooved focus ring...

I bought for the Olympus 12-100/4 which is one of the best lens for m4/3 IMHO, and it's fits perfect. I recommend it.
it fit both focus ring and zoom ring.

I love this concept for upgrading a simple focus ring to something geared for professional use. Its very simple idea and I hate the look of the strap-on gears with giant bolt on top-- it gets in the way. This product is well constructed and works perfectly with standard follow focus systems.  Just be sure to measure it properly -- best to be one degree under your measurement. So if your lens is 72mm -- get the one below -- otherwise it doesnt fit snug on the lens.

I have many of these from Cool_lux and they all fit and perform perfectly.

I bought a set of these because of the material choices they made. There is just enough stretch to fit a lot of lenses well and the material grips the lens ring pretty tightly; you are not going to do better than this. I quickly warmed up to using a generic barrel sizing for the product line as you get the most coverage possible and using the printable sizing strip worked like a charm. I am currently shooting Nikon and it's rather ironic that even if I change manufacturers, the rings can come with me.

I was worried the rubber would have too much give and cause lag or bounce, but it works just fine. My only complaint is the price, seems a little pricy for a piece of rubber.
