A: The Jem kit comes with an additional floppy fabric and a Jaw Vise Grip. The frames are the same size when constructed but the Jem kit uses the shorter 22 frame components and connectors to allow them to break down and fit in the smaller 28 case (compared with the 50 case with the 4 x 4' Cine Kit). The smaller frame components can also be used with the Westcott Cine 2 x 2' fabrics.

A: This Cine frame is a true 6' x 6' as are the Westcott Fabrics made for this version of the Cine Frame. Other manufacturers products like the Matthews silk may or may not fit based on their actual size and the mounting method.

A: Westcott sells extensions to the system that would allow you to change the size from of the Westcott Scrim Jim Cine Video Kit (4 x 6') BH #WE1690 from 4x6' to 6x6' or 8x8'. You would need the side sections, the connectors and new diffusions.

Q: 8. Will this diffuse bright sunlight enough to soften out shadows nicely?

A: The 3/4 stop will soften the shadows however for more diffusion there is the one stop and 1 1/4 stop fabrics. Also, as others have stated, the larger sizes may provide more of the soft quality of light you are looking for.

A: There are a variety of ways to mount this. Most will use a Center Jaw Vise Clamp (Westcott part #1980) and place that into a Grip Head (Westcott Part #1881) which mounts to a light stand. In September of 2019, Westcott will be releasing the Scrim Jim Clamp to provide another mounting option. That part number will be Westcott #2080.

Q: 10. Can one person hold this 6x6 scrim?

A: One person can handhold this scrim indoors. Outside on location it can turn into a kite very quickly so even if its just breezy it'd be difficult for one person to handle.
