Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this allow me to connect my 3.5mm lav microphones to the XLR ports on either a Tascam DR-40x or Zoom H5 or H6 ?

A: The Switchcraft 318 is for connecting a line out 1/8'' source to an XLR mic input. For an 1/8'' microphone that is battery powered, it would be more ideal to use a Kopul mini to XLR adapter (B&H # KOAXMMF). https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/985832-REG/kopul_a_xmmf_adapter_xlr_male.html If you are using an 1/8'' microphone that is not battery powered and instead uses mic plugin power, then you would use the Rode VXLR Plus adapter with the phantom power on your DR-40X or H5 or H6 turned on (B&H # ROVXLRP). https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1358231-REG/rode_vxlr_mini_jack_to_xlr_adaptor.html

Q: 2. Because this is a condenser microphone, will it work with a Clear-Com RM-704 station?

A: Hello Scott, Thank you for your question. Our CM-i5 headset with condenser microphone can operate with systems that provide bias power. We checked with Clear-Com on the RM-704 and seems it does not supply the bias power. Many of their body-packs and the new FreeSpeak do offer the bias power. However, the CM-i3 with the dynamic mic should work with this station with no problem. Please come back to us if you have any other questions.

Q: 3. Used with Sony camera to connect with clear-com's 5-pin headset How are the 5-pin and 4-pole TRRS arrays configured?

A: Thank you for your question. At this time the manufacturer does not have this specification available.

Q: 4. can this work with any microphone with TA4F connector or is it only for Point Source mics?

A: The Point Source Audio CON is meant for use with PSA microphones only. Results with other brands will vary as they may have different wiring schemes, even if the connector is the same.

Q: 5. I want to connect a laptop to an Anchor AN-130. A direct patch gives me hiss. Connecting two laptops to a switcher and then onto the amp can degrade the signal to uselessness. Will this help with this problem?

A: Yes, the 318 will provide a balanced mic level output so if you use the mic level input on the Anchor it should help eliminate any noise caused by impedance mismatch. You may need to use the ground lift switch on the 318 if there's a hum. It may also be helpful to turn down the treble control on the Anchor speaker slightly.

Q: 6. Can I use this adapter cable to connect an intercom headset with 4pin XLR to an URSA Broadcast?

A: No. The URSA Broadcast will accept XLR mic inputs for stereo input. The 3.5mm is a combo headphone/mono mic in.

Q: 7. Will my 5-pin XLR RTS headset work on laptop (both microphone and speaker) by using this connector?

A: Yes, the Point Source Audio ADP-5FxPH PSA Headset Adapter Cable 5-Pin Female XLR to 3.5mm Male TRRS (8") can be used to adapt 5-pin XLR connection headsets for compatibility with laptops and smartphones.

Q: 8. Can I use a 5-pin telex RTS headset and this connector to use unity app on an ipad 3.5mm jack?

A: Yes, that is possible; this adapter is designed for use with mobile devices.

Q: 9. Will these work with Ultimate Ears custom in-ears?

A: Based on the information that I am seeing the Point Source Audio CM-i5-4F is not compatible with Ultimate Ears custom in-ear monitors.

Q: 10. I want to plug in a pair of mics for mid-side. I this wired like the Rycote Conbox for that task? Thanks.

A: Yes, the CAXSTEX5M will allow you to connect two mics with standard 3-pin XLR output to use for mid-side audio and then send a stereo signal via 5-pin XLR. It can provide a setup that is similar to that of the Rycote Connbox CB3.

Knee-shaped connection is very good, strong and very useful cable video cameras that have no connection to XLR.

Works perfectly on the Fiilex P360. Found that it needs to be plugged into the Out TRRS port on the right side of the light fixture.
