The slimkey keybed offers velocity and aftertouch, while each step of the 64-step sequencer can have up to 8 notes. The step sequencer offers 8 memories, while the arpeggiator mode offers 8 pattern styles. Additionally, the swing and gate length can be set via the keyboard on-the-fly.

The KeyStep offers a chord-play mode that sets chords and then plays them back with a single note, a feature that can also be used in the arpeggiator mode for chord arpeggiations. Additional performance controls include capacitive-touch pitchbend and modulation strips. For the analog producer, the KeyStep offers pitch and modulation CV (control voltage) outputs, a Gate output, and Sync I/O via 1/8" / 3.5mm connectors. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it include the wooden feet as shown in the pics? Thanks in advance

A: No, the wooden legs are not included. This is a brand new item which has not yet been shipped to dealers. At this time Arturia only lists that availability and pricing are to be determined for the wooden legs. More information should be available after the keyboard is in stock so please do check back with us.

Q: 2. Does it take a standard or universal sustain pedal?

A: It will take many brands of sustain pedal. The one that seems to be the best one for the Casio WK-7600 is the M-Audio SP-2 Universal Keyboard Sustain Pedal. We have it at B&H and the part number is B&H # MASP2. I have attached a photo of the pedal for you.

Q: 3. Does this have waterfall keys?

A: No, the keys on the Arturia KeyLab 88 MkII Hammer-Action MIDI Controller have a very small lip at the end. They are not waterfall style keys with a totally flat edge.

Q: 4. hi what are the dimensions of this key lab thanks?

A: The Arturia KeyLab MKII 49 measures 31.2 x 11.7 x 2.1" (793 x 297 x 53 mm).

Q: 5. Does it require external speakers?

A: Yes

Q: 6. If you have a mic pre processor that provides gain, like DBX 286s, is there a way to bypass the interface’s gain?

A: By utilizing the mic preamp on the DBX 286s, you can adjust the gain for your mic at this stage. Then come out line level to the 1/4-inch TRS input of the Aturia Audiofuse. The gain on the unit cannot be bypassed, but with a strong line level signal coming in, there would not be much gain adjustment needed.

Q: 7. Are the 200 sample memory slots blank when the unit is new? In other words, are these 200 slots *in addition* to the pre-loaded samples that come with the unit?

A: volca sample has an increased memory of 200 memory slots; double its predecessor. 50 are left empty on factory settings so you can load either your own original or pre-made libraries. Pattern locations have also have been increased from 10 to 16. The new generation of volca sample comes with a brand new sound library that has been carefully curated to fit the needs of all music producers and beat makers everywhere. This great selection of 150 samples will take your production to the next level, making it possible to make tracks on the fly with sounds that will fit every genre, including recent ones such as Future bass, Trap, Lo-Fi hip hop, and many others!

Q: 8. Can the Korg SQ1 be used to sequence lights for a light show?

A: If your light board can accept the CV/GATE OUT, MIDI OUT or USB MIDI instructions from the KORG, then yes.

Q: 9. Hi there anyone tried to use Arturia Beatstep Controller & Sequencer, in roland V-1HD video switcher? I need to control the audio and add some custom keys to effects. Thanks

A: The Arturia Beatstep is a universal MIDI controller that allows users to control software programs. You may use it to control audio functions within a program and parameters within the given program, but not the Roland V-1HD.

Q: 10. Are there any pictures of the connector? Does it come out of the mic at a right angle or straight out of the bottom?

A: The Arturia MicroFreak Gooseneck Microphone's 3.5mm connector is on the flat part of the mount, which sits flush against the MicroFreak's headphone jack. It can be seen mounted in this image: https://bit.ly/3tMXEfZ"

It is a fine little MIDI keyboard. I do wish the black keys were a little wider, but I think they are as skinny as they are so that wider fingers than mine can fit between.

Instant Hit. I love that I can drive my drums and 4 CV channels in my Eurorack with KeyStep. it's the perfect companion to every Eurorack to experiment quickly and get some complex patterns out of it without messing with 20 obscure modules. It was also surprisingly intuitive to use.

First of all: I ordered it on B&H and arrived the next day, free shipping!!! Wow! The Arturia Keystep is tremendously versatile and powerful controller. Everything is done right here! Plus, it's built very well!!! If you have hardware/software synths, a good computer (or two), a couple of iPads latest generations, buy it and you'll be more than satisfied! I use mine through Roland Juno-G, Roland GR-20, various laptops, iPads, iMac -- triggering lots of software, and I have to tell you that I can't stop using it! Don't forget one very important thing: it has a conventional MIDI IN/OUT, plus the USB, which also sends MIDI. Look around and try to find out how many controllers offer that sort of versatility?!? And for that price!!!???

Two things I have to figure out: how to save parameters from the Midi Control Center to the Keystep, and if I can plug it in into a battery (RAV) and only send the MIDI to an iPad, in order not to burn too fast through the iPad's battery. Other than that, look at the title of this post!!!

This keyboard creates both MIDI and CV and it's also a sequencer and a drum-machine and everything you would like to have. It makes most of my Eurorack modules so much more useful, because there are things I wouldn't do because of too much wiring, but KeyStep Pro creates all the signals, they're synchronized and it's so much easier.

I bought a Keystep to go with a Behringer Model D and Neutron I bought. When I was looking and listening to demos of the two synths above I noticed a lot of people using the Keystep. So I researched it and decided to give it a try. Glad I did. It's hard to beat for the price and features.

Keyboard feels pretty good for what it is. Very slightly spongy until you get used to it. It's not going to feel like a synth action keybed in larger keyboards or even an Alesis Micron but not far from the Micron's keyboard. Feels like my Yamaha CS01's keys. It's very playable.

The sequencer section and arpeggiator section are perfect for what they are meant for and do. Great for driving monophonic synth modules and it will do poly synths too. See specs for more info.

Build quality feels first rate. Metal bottom and plastic top. Knobs are silky smooth, selector knobs are smooth and quiet and illuminated rubber buttons feel good for what they are.

Bottom line is I would highly recommend the Keystep for what it's meant to do. Drive a synth and then some!
