The aperture goes from f1.8 down to f22. There is no aperture ring on the lens, so you have to dial your f/stop up and dow using the dials on your camera. I have no idea what a Speed Booster is so I can't answer that. What I can say from using this lens almost every day since I bought it is that it is the single sharpest lens I have ever used and I would buy it again without hesitation or qualms.
