The Tiffen 3 x 3" Blue 5 Soft Edge Graduated Filter is a soft-edged graduated color filter providing a bluish color across the image, giving a cooling effect for your photographs. The graduated filter design keeps a portion of the image neutral, resulting in a more realistic look while allowing for the sky or other bright areas to take on the color of the density. The 5 density provides less of a blue cast than the 4 density filter.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 3 x 3"' / 76.2 x 76.2mm.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the gear swappable from one side of the motor to the other? Doesn't look like it...

A: Yes, The drive gear can be mounted on either side of the motor in the Teradek RT FIZ Kit.

Q: 2. What’s the image stabilization like on these lenses? Is it harder to maintain a smooth shot in comparison to some other 35’s?

A: The Carl Zeiss CP.3 cinema lenses have no stabilization whatsoever.

Q: 3. How does this perform in terms of CA levels and purple fringing at all aperture settings?

A: It is our understanding that the optical properties of the CP.2 and CP.3 lenses are very similar. There were reports of some CA with the CP.2 lenses. Being that these are Zeiss, we doubt that this really is something that the cinematographer will be concerned about let alone his audience. CA is dependent on lighting, focus and aperture as well. We would encourage you to rent and test before you buy to make sure these lenses are for you.

Q: 4. Can this take a front filter?

A: No, like all cine lenses, the ZEISS CP.3 lenses are not designed to accept screw in filters. You can filter the lens by using cut-filters in a matte box.

Q: 5. works with blackmagic pocket 4k?

A: Yes, this is an MFT mount lens. It will work well with the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. https://bhpho.to/2Hjgn8q

Q: 6. Does this lens send metadata to bmpcc 4k?

A: The ZEISS CP.3 XD lenses transfer meta data using the Cooke /i Technology protocol. This is available only on select cameras using a PL mount. The BMPCC with MFT mount does not support the /i Technology protocol and neither does the standard ZEISS CP.3 EF mount lens. You could use the BM Ursa Mini Pro with PL mount along with the ZEISS CP.3 XD PL and then there would be a meta data exchange.

Q: 7. If using a super 35mm sensor with this full frame lens, would one need to use the crop factor of 1.5 to determine the equivalent field of view?

A: Yes you would. To take it a step further all lenses are listed by their physical focal length and from there the crop factor needs to be taken in to account. Even lenses that only cover a Super 35mm sensor will be subject to a crop factor. Any lens, regardless of it is covers Super 35mm or Full Frame, will need to have the 1.5x crop factor added.

Q: 8. What is a compatible filter holder for the NiSi NIP-100-MGND0.9 graduated neutral density filter?

A: This Nisi V6 holder is compatible with the NiSi NIP-100-MGND0.9 graduated neutral density filter https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1470421-REG/nisi_nip_fh100_v6_en_v6_100mm_filter_holder.html

Q: 9. does it work with the NISI S6 150mm?

A: Yes :)

Q: 10. Is this lens rectilinear?

A: Yes, the ZEISS CP.3 2.9/15 is a rectilinear design with well controlled geometric distortion.
