Wireless microphone transmission systems are typically subject to interruptions in reception (RF signal dropout). The UWP-D series reduces this to a minimum and utilizes a true diversity reception per channel. It compares the RF signals from the two antennas and automatically selects the stronger signal for output

Sony Digital Audio Processing is used to improve sound quality and transient response performance compared to conventional analog wireless systems. Analog companding systems cannot accurately reproduce sounds such as a bell, tee shot or handclap, but Sony Digital Audio Processing reproduces them faithfully

The URX-S03D provides a two-channel digital connection to XDCAM camcorders or a single-channel connection to HDCAM camcorders via a D-sub 15-pin interface. With HDCAM camcorders, two audio signals from two transmitters can be output in the single channel as a two-channel mixing function. Sony camcorders can also show each wireless microphone's RF/AF level in the viewfinder.

The Auto Set channel mode allows the user to find and set available frequencies to use within the operating frequencies of the system. The receiver will automatically set the transmitter channel using the IR Sync feature

With its Clear Channel Scan, Active Channel Scan function and IR Sync features, the system detects unoccupied channels and selects the most appropriate channel automatically for fast and easy system setup

DSP enables a digital compander to match Sony's analog wireless system. The WP-D Series transmitters and receivers are also compatible with Sony's WL-800 Series and UWP Series, allowing users to switch between different companding modes

The switching bandwidth covers a wide area and has a wide choice of channels available

The receiver achieves stable transmission and reception by using a UHF PLL (Phase Locked Loop) frequency synthesized system, which provides accurate carrier signal frequencies. This system is used in both the transmitters and tuners, so that a stable carrier is generated at the transmitter, and accurately tuned in at the tuner. This PLL-controlled system provides highly stable, user-selectable frequencies in increments of both 25 kHz and 125 kHz

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If utilizing this receiver with a Sony FX-3 and the SMAD-P5 and using two transmitters, is the system still true diversity? Also, is auto gain control the only option with the SMAD-P5 and the FX-3?

A: Yes, the Sony URX-P41D Dual-Channel Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver still uses true diversity reception when receiving audio from two transmitters and connected to the Sony SMAD-P5 Digital MI Shoe Adapter.

Q: 2. Would this receiver work with a Sennhesier SK500 transmitter in thr Aw+ band (470-558Mhz)?

A: No it would not work with Sennheiser transmitters. It can be used to capture audio when paired with the SONY UTX-B03HR beltpack transmitter & microphone (sold separately)

Q: 3. What's the difference between this one and the more expensive one "DWR-S03D"? https://bhpho.to/2Hd9wvU

A: The DWR-S03D utilizes Sony's DWX digital technology and can mount into Sony digital slot-in compatible camcorders, UniSlot camcorders, and SuperSlot-enabled devices using either the DWA-SLAS1 or DWA-SLAU1 adapters. It can also be used in an audio bag with the DWA-F01D adapter. The URX-S03D is a slot-in receiver that provides a two-channel digital connection to XDCAM camcorders or a single-channel connection to HDCAM camcorders via a D-sub 15-pin interface. With HDCAM camcorders, two audio signals from two transmitters can be output in the single channel as a two-channel mixing function.

Q: 4. Is this compatible with the Sony DWT-B01 Digital Wireless transmitters?

A: No, components from Sony's UWP-D line such as the Sony URX-S03D UWP-D Dual-Channel Slot-In Wireless Receiver are not compatible for use with components from Sony's DWX line such as the Sony DWT-B01 Digital Wireless Bodypack Transmitter.

Q: 5. Will the URX-S03D fit into the PXW-X320 XDCAM? if so, do you need a mounting adapter? thx

A: Based on Sony's website, this device should fit right into the PXW-X320's slot without any additional adapters.

Q: 6. Will this work for both channels in a Sony X400 camera?

A: Hi Tom, Yes. Thanks, Erin

Q: 7. Will this work with the Shure G50 band transmitters?

A: The Sony URX-P41D will not work with Shure transmitters.

Q: 8. Will the SMAD-P3 work with this system?

A: No, the SMAD-P5 would be the compatible model for the URX-P41D.

Q: 9. What alternatives do i have to power this unit when in a sound bag?

A: The Sony URX-S03D UWP-D Dual-Channel Slot-In Wireless Receiver requires 7V DC 200mA from a camcorder or wireless power adapter such as the Sony DWA-F01D Digital Wireless Adapter (B&H # SODWAF01D). For mixer-bag use with battery systems, centralized management for the DWA-F01D can be achieved using the Hirose 4-pin or BP jack. For AC powering, you can use an InfoLITHIUM battery charger as an AC adapter or use a conventional AC adapter with the BP jack.

Q: 10. Is this transmitter SuperSlot compatible?

A: No, the Sony URX-S03D UWP-D Dual-Channel Slot-In Wireless Receiver does not use a SuperSlot compatible form factor. The URX-S03D provides a two-channel digital connection to XDCAM camcorders, or a single-channel connection to HDCAM camcorders via a D-sub 15-pin interface.

For capturing audio on the Fx6, or any Sony camera that has the multi-interface shoe, this is a no brainer.

Audio is clean, easy to edit and makes my life so much easier. The xlr plug in devices also works really well as a wireless boom mic or a handheld mic as well.

To connect the device to the multi-interface shoe, make sure you also get the SMADP5 adapter which isn't included

I wanted a new wireless mic system with frequencies that are OK to use in today's spectrum. The Sony system was a good price and had the features I wanted.
This is a UHF system not a 2.4GHz system. It worked great right out of the box. It picked the first frequency and I had a clear signal with no interference.
I'm not a big fan of the locking TRS connector on the microphone. I prefer the Lemo connector of the Lectrosonics. But after using the Sony Locking TRS connector I'm OK with this type of connector. The locking connector works fine with no problems. I used a Sennheiser Locking TRS connector and we had to replace them all the time and they crackled.
The TRS connector needs to be inserted all the way in to a click and then the locking ring is rotated to lock the connector. Just remember to push the TRS connector all the way in before locking the ring or it won't engage.
I found this UHF range to be the best.
The screen is easy to see and the buttons are easy to use.
This wireless mic combo uses AA batteries that are easy to find. I use rechargeable batteries and they work well. The batteries are in a removable cassette that is part of the case. They are covered with a rubber type door. It takes a little care to get the cassette back on the packs, but it's not bad. I think it works very well compared to a battery door that opens.
I'm very pleased with my purchase.

I compared this with America's best Lectrosonics 's new device and the Sony device is as good as and the price is only 1/3 currently; more than fair.

I've used this setup for several interviews now and the sound was clear for the entire interview. Just make sure you auto scan at every location before you use and it should work perfectly. I have two sets of these for small panel discussions.

I use this mic pack for video interviews as an upgrade from Sony's URX-P03. Even though I don't even shoot on a Sony camera, this mic pack is easy to integrate and carries excellent, natural sound quality. This mic doesn't require a lot of post-production help, and I'm happy to include it with my gear.
