  • Availability: In Stock

$929.85 $1,246.00

This 95mm Coarse Tiffen ND Filter is a solid ND filter with a filter factor of 10x that provides a 3.3-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.0 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

A: Tiffen 82mm Variable Neutral Density Filter has a 98mm outer diameter.

Q: 7. Would a 25-30 second exposure of a waterfall be possible on a partly sunny day at f/22?

A: The best I could tell you is to try it and see. It all depends on what partly sunny is. I have used the 1.2 with a 15 second exposure at F16 and got a great result. But that was a cloudy day. Remember that you can always adjust your ISO to 100 to help some.

I love VND filters to help outdoor shots when a shallow DOF is needed. One filter to get you whatever stop you need.

This filter was purchased to work with a Nikon D7100. The main purpose for the filter was to slow moving water and it does this well.

I use my 5D Mark III as my field camera. By field, I mean out of country. Having a camera that is small and compact is what I prefer. First and foremost, dslr's are still cameras, not video cameras. I'm used to working with Varicams and the hard iris/aperture stops that the dslr use make it near impossible to keep your exposure clean when moving from light to dark situations. That's where this baby comes in handy. I leave my dslr wide open and my shutter locked and use this to force the brightness down smoothly without clicks or pops from the wheel and internal components. An added bonus is that I keep my shallow depth of field in the brightest of days.

This is the second of these filters I have purchased to use in Photography and for video. We have a small business and two DSLR cameras thus we have two Filters now. It works great and has a smooth feel to it. The photos when using this filter come out great. I have used my first one on about 50 shoots now and so far no issues. This new version does feel a bit more tight when adjusting the filter both come with a great such for safe keeping. I have used it with a UV filter and without. No complaints at all would recommend it for quality and Price.

I can't understand why I didn't purchase this sooner. In my research of other Variable ND filters I found that this one had the best reviews for the price. In fact, the reviews basically told me that this thing is as good as the more expensive (read: 2-3x more expensive) offerings. The main things you need to know are: 1. It does not soften the image at all. 2. It does not give the image a noticable color cast; what is there is easily fixable. 3. The X pattern is avoidable by staying within the range of ND. That's all. Unless the other VND filters somehow made the image sharper (which they don't) then they're a complete scam. This Tiffen is an honest deal and excellent performer.

I have tested this filter on all my lenses ranging from 17mm to 200mm, including an 85mm T/S lens and it works great on all. Easy to use, no noticeable color cast, and sharp. It gives me the results I wanted. If you have a good foundation in photography, you'll have no problems.

I love these so much that I bought 2 more! I like to keep them on multiple lenses because I use it so often. I have used all sorts of other ND filters, and I have to say, for the price, tiffen Variable ND does an amazing job. People complain about black corners, but I don't think that they understand how variable ND filters work. Even if you get the most expensive Singh ray vari-ND, it will do the same effect if you are at maximum variance. My singh ray does the same thing. It's like law of physics, complaining about something like that is like complaining because there is gravity. Just don't go too much near maximum, if you really need to shoot at 1.2 aperture, you may need to play with shutter if you are already at lowest ISO. But honestly, I have shot wide open 1.2, 1.4, 1.8 with 1/50 shutter in bright sunlight or studio lights, and these filters definitely does the job. And that says a lot, since I am often locked' at ISO 2000-3200 due to shooting sony S-log cameras. Again, great filters for your buck!

I did quite a bit of research before purchasing this filter, and I am so glad I did. I shoot a lot of DSLR video and want to be able to have more creative control over shutter speed/aperture/ISO. This filter provided the perfect solution. Color seems to remain accurate throughout, and I dont notice any vignetting. The only thing I wish I would have done is buy the 77mm version with the adapter down to 67mm to make itm compatible with more of my lenses.

Got this filter to use with the Canon 70-300mm F4L lens because I do a lot of outdoor video. It's a good combination in bright sunlight.
