Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What XLR out cables are required?

A: This type will work: Kopul Studio Elite 4000 Series XLR M to XLR F Microphone Cable - 3' (0.91 m), Black B&H # KOM4003

Q: 2. Will this unit take a mono signal, and send it to both L&R outputs? Or do I need to split the signal into both L&R inputs?

A: You would have to send a signal into both left and right channels to get a left and right output. The Hosa Technology RCA Female to 2 RCA Male Y-Cable - 6", B&H # HOYCRF2RM can be used at the input to bring your mono signal into the unit.

Q: 3. Will this device work in reverse? Will it allow an XLR microphone in and 3.5mm out for use with a laptop mic input?

A: The Switchcraft AudioStix Stereo 3.5mm Female to Balanced Mono XLR Male Adapter will only pass signal as specified and would not be able to accommodate a reversed signal in the other direction.

Q: 4. I just need to raise the level of an unbalanced signal with RCA connectors. RCA to RCA but with higher level. Can I do it with this equipment?

A: Yes, the Rolls MB15b Promatch 2-Way Stereo Converter will raise a consumer level (-10 dB) stereo RCA audio signal to a balanced, full line level (+4 dB) output signal.

Q: 5. How do I hook up a piano mic( power mic) to mixer (RM82)?

A: Your microphone will require phantom power not provide by this mixer. Rolls PB223 Mic Power II Dual 48V Phantom Power Supply B&H # ROPB223

Q: 6. Can I connect 2 amps ( 1 tube & 1 hifi ) to a pair of speakers. The tube amp only has RCA input and banana plugs out. The hifi has RCA input, RCA line output and banana plugs out.

A: Unfortunately you cannot. The SS32 Mini Route 3 is only made for one source with outs.

Q: 7. Is the "direct out" before or after any trim/gain adjustment? Looking to boost 8 mic signals to 8 line level. Will this do it?

A: The direct output on the Rolls RM82 8-Channel Mic/Line Mixer is taken immediately after the preamp stage, before any signal processing or adjustments.

Q: 8. Can I output balanced xlr to a PA and use the rca outputs at the same time for a local monitor?

A: Yes they are two separate outputs so they can be used at the same time.

Q: 9. Can I connect a mixer's phone stereo out to the 3.5mm female and use XLR to TRS female adapter to convert headphones to mono?

A: Yes you can connect the headphone output of a mixer into the 1/8'' input on the Switchcraft AudioStix adapter.

Q: 10. I want to connect a laptop to an Anchor AN-130. A direct patch gives me hiss. Connecting two laptops to a switcher and then onto the amp can degrade the signal to uselessness. Will this help with this problem?

A: Yes, the 318 will provide a balanced mic level output so if you use the mic level input on the Anchor it should help eliminate any noise caused by impedance mismatch. You may need to use the ground lift switch on the 318 if there's a hum. It may also be helpful to turn down the treble control on the Anchor speaker slightly.

Loving it! Hooked up my consumer receiver (RCA) to my Pro speakers (XLR) in minutes. I now have a true Pro-sounding editing suite.

Works as advertised, quick easy set up and performed flawlessly in an RF environment. Worked exactly as I had hoped to take computer/iPod audio to professional level XLR Stereo out.

I have a home theater where 3 of the seats have Buttkicker tactile transducers, for those earth quaking explosions etc. Tactile transducers require a lot of wattage from your amp, so a pro amp suited me best (lots of power, drive low ohms, cheaper per watt). However, since my home theater receiver only had the typical -10 dB output on the sub-woofer channel, I needed something to bring it up to the +4 dB required by the professional amp. This box is an affordable way to integrate professional audio equipment into your home theater. No fuss, just works. Just be careful when you now do the channel balancing, since you'll have three places to adjust the audio level, 1) the receiver, 2) the MB15b Promatch, and 3) the amplifiers input gain.
