The Kirk 1/4"-20 x 3/8" Captive Screw for Camera Plates is a replacement for the one that comes with all Kirk camera plates and L-brackets, as well as KES 1/4" threaded lens plates. The thread is 1/4"-20 and the length of the screw is 3/8". A 5/32" Allen wrench is included for installation.

Can your plate clear the 1/4 diameter? Using fingers, can't get enough tightness. Still have to use either a hex wrench or a coin. Have run into clearance problems with the D-ring. Went back to the stock hex keyed fastener.

A: The d ring has a clearance requirement of 3/4 over the width of the ring handle. This would require your mountung slot/hole to have at least 7/8 clearance to rotate

A: I have one of the 1/4 20 screws with D ring for fastening. I measured the overall length as 11.94mm and the threaded shaft is 8.25mm long. The head thickness is4mm and the depth of the plate for the head is 7mm. The screw works just fine and no need for tools to get the screw nicely tightened to the camera. The D ring folds down and fits in the plate properly to permit easy fit to the mount.Bob Haas

A: I bought these because the plates i bought didnt have the fold out ring to grasp to undo. These u dont need a penny to tighten or undo. For me its a no brainer. Extra cost but to me worth it.

A: Hi, I bought this D-ring about six months ago thinking I would be able to switch between plates and move my camera from my tripod to my gimbal quickly. Unfortunately the head on this D-ring was to thick and wouldn't give me enough clearance between the plate and the tripod head. This was just my experience with this product. Maybe you'll have better luck. I was also using the 504 long.
