They're no bigger than a paper clip unless you consider the sound they produce. The Microflex Lavalier microphones bring a new level of sophistication to personal voice reproduction. Like all Microflex family microphones, the Lavaliers use Shure's interchangeable condenser cartridges, available in cardioid, supercardioid or omnidirectional polar patterns. That means you can be sure there's a Microflex Lavalier that's right for your job. Each Microflex Lavalier includes all the accessories you need.

The Microflex Lavaliers are completely compatible with all Shure Wireless transmitters, and their high sensitivity and wide frequency response guarantee great sound with a minimum of RF interference or electromagnetic hum. Plus, each Microflex Lavalier features the same Shure quality sound that has become an industry standard. But don't take our word for it. Just listen, and you'll hear how the best solution just got better.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. origin for this mic ?

A: The Shure SM11-CN is currently manufactured in Germany.

Q: 2. Does this use a regular 3 pin XLR connector? (understand that it needs phantom power)

A: Yes, this Shure MX184 Supercardioid Wired Lavalier Microphone does have a standard size 3-pin XLR connector and is intended for use with a mixer, recorder, camera, or amplifier with a standard XLR mic input that can supply phantom power.

Q: 3. What is the pre amp code number from Shure ?

A: If I understand the question correctly, the part # for the pre amp for the MX185 is the RK100PK.https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/469581-REG/Shure_RK100PK_RK100PK_RFI_Resistant.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/469581-REG/Shure_RK100PK_RK100PK_RFI_Resistant.html/a

Q: 4. Will this microphone work with the Shure Beta inline xlr preamp using phantom power?

A: Yes, it is compatible.

Q: 5. This will work with Wirless go system?

A: This microphone is incompatible with the RODE Go

Q: 6. Hello. I would like to connect the MX185 to my DSLR (Canon t7i) mini jack and need phantom power for it to work. Can I use something like the IK Multimedia iRig Pre? WL185 to RK100PK preamp to iRig Pre to DSLR (with TRRS to TRS adapter). Are there better options to get phantom power and connect to the DSLR? Many thanks.

A: The iRig Pre can work if used with a TRRS to TRS adapter like the Rode SC3 (B&H # ROSC3), but there are other camera-mountable systems like the Beachtek DXA-MICRO-PRO Active XLR Compact Adapter (B&H # BEDXAMICROP), Comica Audio CVM-AX3 Dual-Channel Audio Mixer for DSLRs (B&H # COCVMAX3), or Saramonic SR-PAX1 Two-Channel Audio Mixer, Preamp, Microphone Adapter (B&H # SASRPAX1) which are specifically for use with cameras. Please feel free to contact us if you would like further assistance.

Q: 7. Will this work well with a Zoom H4n recorder?

A: Yes it will. Be sure to turn off the recorder's 48V phantom power.

Q: 8. can this microphone work with external voice recorders such as Zoom h1n?

A: No, the Shure CVL Centraverse Cardioid Lavalier Microphone is not compatible for direct connection to the Zoom H1n Portable Handy Recorder. The CVL has a TA4F (4-pin mini-XLR female) connector and the input on the recorder is 3.5mm TRS. In order to use the CVL, you would need to use the Shure Wired TwinPlex Microphone Preamp with Belt Clip - TA4F to XLR (B&H # SHRPM400TQG) together with a phantom power supply such as the Xvive Audio P1 Portable Phantom Power Supply with Rechargeable Battery (B&H # XVP1), and an XLR female to 3.5mm TRS male cable like the Kopul XRSM 3-Pin XLR Female to 3.5mm RA Stereo Mini-Plug Cable - 1.5' (B&H # KOXRSM015B).

Q: 9. Will this work with the DJI Mic 2 system?

A: The Shure CVL Centraverse Cardioid Lavalier Microphone cannot be used with the DJI Mic 2 2-Person Compact Digital Wireless Microphone System/Recorder for Camera & Smartphone (2.4 GHz), the connector is a mini-XLR and the DJI Mic2 system requires a 3.5mm connector.

Q: 10. What is the easiest and most lightweight way to use this microphone with a Sony A7S III camera? Which additional products would I need to buy?

A: To connect the Shure MX185 - Cardioid Wired Lavalier Microphone to a camera input such as that found on the Sony a7S III Mirrorless Camera, an adapter such as the Sony XLR-K3M Dual-Channel Digital XLR Audio Adapter (BH #SOXLRK3M) could be used to interface with the camera's Multi Interface Shoe. Alternatively, a camera mixer such as the Beachtek DXA-MICRO-PRO Active XLR Compact Adapter (BH #BEDXAMICROP) could be used to receive and power the MX185 over XLR connection and send signal into the a7S via its 3.5mm input.

I am using this lav mic to amplify a 5 string banjo. I had been using a generic electret battery driven lav mic (think radio shack) for that purpose, replacing the mini-plug with a female 1/4 inch, then using a standard guitar cord, plugging into a Baggs Para DI, then into the board of the sound system with an xlr mic line. That was OK, but I had lots of thin wire to coil, a fragile battery pod and the nusiance of dead watch batteries if I forgot to switch the thing off. The SM11 of course needs no batteries and the wiring is much more robust than the cheap lav mic. I can go direct into a mixing board and the sound is quite nice. The banjo doesn't really need a lot of high end amplification, and doesn't produce deep lows -- all of which the dynamic mic doesn't pick up. So the result is a nice warm sound, and much more full-spectrum than the electret mic to my ear. Probably because the diaphragm is larger, I guess. I don't need to hide this rather large (thumb size)lav canister in clothing, like a video person would. It rides in the backside of the banjo. The included tie clip worked fine, clipped to a little jig I sometimes use. But instead I wrapped the body in some dense memory foam, and made my own mount that also acts as a tone regulator behind the head -- it's an open-back banjo thing. Looks like this product is robust and should work for years. Works fine going straight into the mixing board. But when I run it through the Baggs Para DI (which is a preamp as well as a DI) I have to use a transformer to change the signal to HI-Z for the 1/4 inch input. Then the output from the Bagg's male xlr (lo-z again) is too hot for the mixing board, so I use a 20db attenuator between the DI out and the board mic-line in. Works fine that way.

Needed a small, quality microphone for Documentary video shoot. Sound quality is excellent and reception of radios works well. Have only just received product and not put it to full use, but early tests seem to go well.

After researching what I needed, Shure sent me to B&H and assured me that would find the product I needed. I wanted a lavalier mic that was compatible with a Shure wireless mic transmitter. They were able to ship it out the next day and I received it a day later. It was exactly what I needed. Thank you B&H!

I have 5 of these. I have recommended them to other performers. I use them on my banjos. The are incredible, I use a tywrap and fix it to a tension hook on the outside of the banjo facing down into a sound hole. It has a great sound, I have used it for years, from a small pa, to onstage for a large audience. It always performs well. I have also used it for recording along with the front mic. With Banjo, when you move off axis it changes the tone, but with this, mic, you have no problem with that. The sound is always consistant. Well Done Shure.
