Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will this work with the p900?

A: Epson T850400 UltraChrome HD Yellow Ink Cartridge (80 ml) BH #EPT850UCY is not compatible with the P900. For the Epson P900 you would need to get the Epson T46Y Yellow UltraChrome PRO10 Ink Cartridge (50mL) BH #EPT46Y400.

Q: 2. This sounds dumb but I have heard that B&W printing uses some color inks in the mix. What inks should I keep in stock for B&W printing besides the obvious 4 blacks?

A: I would recommend to keep all 9 ink cartridges in stock. Just to be safe. Depending on the printer model, some printers will not print if a cartridge is empty.

Q: 3. About how many 17x22 prints can I get outta this ink?

A: According to a Red River Paper test, the cost of ink is approximately $3.20 for a 17x22 print. Divide your cost for a set of ink tanks by $3.20 and you have your answer. Your results may vary.

Q: 4. I own an Epson Stylus Pro 4880, which has been working well since I bought it approximately 5 years ago. I am considering purchasing a new printer, and am considering the Epson p800. I also looked over the Epson 4900, which hasn't received very good reviews. I like the ability to print 17 x20, which both printers can do, and the print resolution is advertised as being the same on both models. I guess my question is why would I buy the more expensive 4900? What advantage does the 4900 offer that the P800 lacks?

A: Congratulations on making the 4880 work for you; I never could, but mine was used, and I never knew if it was really working correctly or not. But my P800 has worked better than I expected.I previously had a Chinese version of the 3880, which suited me well, but the P800 with the roll-paper feature is better for me and what I do. It's easier to set up and use than the 4880. Can't speak for the 4900.

Q: 5. Approximately how many 8x10 prints can I get out of these ink cartridges?

A: There is no published spec on this and each print can use a different amount of ink colors. In general, it will use about 1.25 ml of ink per square foot. It uses nine individual ink tanks, each of which holds 80 ml. My estimate would be around 640 8x10's. Also Ink is Used during switching the black inks. Matte to Photo Black Approx 4.6mlPhoto to Matte Black Approx 1.6ml

Q: 6. What is the page yield for these cartridges and for what size page? I realize page yields are approximate. 80ml sounds good, but for $55 apiece I'd like to know how far that goes.

A: I ran (150) sheets of 8.5 x 11 inch premium glossy paper with full ink coverage and full bleed. The cartridge is showing half full. When running that number of prints, I tend to use light black and vivid light magenta and light cyan at a greater pace, running those inks down to about 25% with each run. Your mileage may vary.

Q: 7. Will this cartridge work on the Epson SC P-807 I purchased in Asia?

A: This cartridge is for US printers .

Q: 8. I got this to replace the discontinued T8245 cartridge, but my P7000 printer doesnt recognize it. What should I do?Please help.

A: In order to use some of the newer inks in the Epson P7000/P9000 printers, a firmware update is needed. Please take a look at the following link: https://bhpho.to/3EMP5DN

Q: 9. Can the ink expire in the printer before a replacement is needed?

A: Technically, it is my understanding that you should not used expired inks. However, I have had some inks that had expired and I used them until they ran out. I would not start with expired inks however, it is not the best thing for the printer, clogging etc. The inks have a mind of their own.

Q: 10. How long can the inks last in storage? I want to buy a set of replacement inks but not sure if I should just wait until I need them.

A: the use by date is 2 years after the manufacture date. also, I have found that the pigment inks are good for much longer, say at least 3 or 4 years.

It's great... especially since it's the only appropriate option for this printer.

Epson's combination of ink, printer and papers cannot be beat. While the printer will successfully produce quality prints on a variety of superb third party substrates, I prefer to print on Epson Exhibition Fiber paper for archival results.

Using actual manufacturers ink cartridges really does make difference in the printing quality.

They are more expensive than third parties, but they are OEM and work great.

Epson ink for an Epson printer is my motto, because one can't really beat Epson ink, although it's a little pricey. I think it's worth it, though, because Epson cartridges have never, ever given me any problems.
