The Tiffen 67mm 81 Light Balancing Filter helps to decrease the color temperature by 100K in order to warm the image slightly in order to match the color quality of illumination. When using an 81 filter, you will be able to attain 3200K balance when the prevailing light source is 3300K. The warming effect of this filter requires a 0.3-stop increase in exposure for normal results.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this particular filter downgrade image sharpness in any way vs. not using a filter at all?

A: Technically, any glass layer in a lens system scatters light and decreases sharpness. However, the reality is good filters will not affect sharpness to any degree you can see. Frankly, other factors such as camera shake, focus, subject movement, aperture, lighting and contrast have far greater influence on image sharpness than a quality filter such as this one.

Q: 2. Can this filter be used with 300mm f/2.8l usm11 lens?

A: To use this filter with the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L USM II, you would need the Canon - Drop-In Filter Holder for 52mm Screw-In Filters, BH # CAFHS52 https://bhpho.to/32xuTCE

Q: 3. What White Balance setting should I use with this filter shooting DSO?

A: When using the Ice 67mm Lipo Light Pollution Filter teh camera should be set on daylight white balance.

Q: 4. How thin is this Hoya 49MM HD3 UV filter?

A: It is about 3mm thick.

Q: 5. Is it affective?

A: Yes, this filter works very well to reduce light pollution and produce cleaner sharper images.

Q: 6. Does this fit on a 35mm sigma lens?

A: Yes, these Close Up filters will work on your Sigma lens. First you need to determine the filter size on your Sigma lens then purchase the Close up filter size to match. For example, if you lens has a 58 mm filter then buy the 58 mm close up filter. My lens has a 67 mm filter size, that's why I purchased the 67 mm close up filter.

Q: 7. If I purchase the Polarizer Filter do I need the UV Filter also?

A: Charles;A polarizer is only good for certain times (there is no use at night for a polarizing filter or indoors), while a UV can be kept on day or night, indoors or out. Not only does it serve as a haze reducer, it is also a good protector for the front lens element.

Q: 8. will focus in surui anamorphic 35mm lens work correctly?

A: If you are referring to the Sirui 35mm f/1.8 Anamorphic 1.33x Lens (MFT Mount), B&H # SISR35M, the above lens has 67mm filter threads. As such, yes, you may connect the Tiffen 67mm Close-up Lens Set onto the filter threads on the Sirui lens. The lens' listed minimum focus distance is 33.5" (85 cm). When using the Tiffen 67mm Close-up Lens Set, you will be able to focus closer than the listed 33.5" (85 cm) minimum focus distance for close-up macro photography usage needs. Actual focus distance will depend on which filter (or combination of filters) you use on the lens. Do note you will still have to focus manually as this is not an autofocus lens.

Q: 9. Will this work with a Canon R5?

A: The Hoya 67mm R72 Infrared Filter will fit any lens that has a 67mm filter thread. You can use the filter on a lens that is attached to the Canon R5.

Q: 10. For my Sony 18-105mm F4 lens. Would you guys recommend that I get the Zeiss 72mm UV filter or the Sony 72mm MC filter? I'm leaning towards the Sony brand for the continuity of having the same brand but not sure if both filters are exactly the same in design. I own a Sony 35mm F1.8 and a Sony 49mm MC filter andthe filter fits my lens like a glove.

A: Just to add to the previous comment to make it clearer: The are the same - just branding difference.

Works great as I got it on sale. Don't like the fact that you can't use the lens hood on 24-105 f4 lens with it attached, but that isn't surprising.

I needed the filter for shooting video and being able to keep the aperture open and The shutter speed slow - works really well and much nicer than having to switch single filters. Quality seems excellent- very neutral in terms of color - wish I had bought it sooner.

This is a life saver, especially for the video shooter out there. I bought the largest size and some step up rings so I could put it on all of my lenses.

B&H had a great deal and I got it. This VND will replace all my various ND's I have now. I already have step up rings for my other 77mm filters, so it is a Win-Win for me. Great price and the rebate to boot.
