Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this lens work with Nikkor E lenses like the 19 mm PC?

A: Yes, it will work with Nikon E lenses.

Q: 2. Ok... I have the 35mm 1.8 g (Nikkor). Will this adapter work and will it remain a 35mm on a mirrorless camera? Also, will my other FX lenses (AI, Non AI, D and E series) will work on a Fuji - will the allow me to use the lenses on manual focusing. In other words which adapter to use for the lenses I've mentioned? Quite confusing. Manufacturers nomenclature does not help. Thank you a lot. Have a nice day.

A: If you are using this adapter for full frame glass - like your 35/1.8 then you are effectively using them as crop sensor lenses. i.e. your Nikkor 35 becomes 50mm on the Fuji sensor. To use your 35/1.8 as a 35 on the Fuji you need one of the metabones speedbooster or lensturbo adapters that correct the image (reduce) to make full use of the glass. This adapter is only useful in that it allows you to mount G (gelded- without aperture ring) on a Fuji - the ring allows some control of the aperture only,

Q: 3. Would I be able to use this on a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 which is a non manual lens, how would I control the aperture if there is no electronic communication. Also if I am able too control the aperture can I use it at its highest value of f2.8 ?

A: You would need to set the desired aperture on the camera prior to mounting the lens, however it is possible to use the 11-16 with this adapter. An f/2.8 aperture is possible, yes.

Q: 4. Will this work with Panasonic Lumix GH1?

A: Yes, it is compatible with the GH1.

Q: 5. I have Rokinon Cine DS Full Cine Lens Kit with EF mount. Will this adapter make my lenses crop used with the new BMCPC 4k that has a full size 4/3 sensor?

A: It is the size of the sensor that determines the crop from some other sensor size, not the lens. These lenses can be used with any sensor full frame or smaller. Since the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K has a MFT sensor, any lens will have a 2x crop from a full frame sensor.

Q: 6. Can this aperture ring control can adjust aperture of the newer lenses too? Such as the newer nikon 24-85, and the tamron 70-200 f2.8? Also does this adapter support full frame? I want to adapt the above lenses to an a7s2, how would this adapter compare to the FotodioX Adapter for Nikon G Lens to Sony NEX Mount Camera II for this use?https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=1097672&gclid=Cj0KEQjwhbzABRDHw_i4q6fXoLIBEiQANZKGW1z_f5tgzmlxtlLkiNputMunAfQ5IzLaFLLBZSqGjGAaAqVW8P8HAQ&is=REG&ap=y&m=Y&c3api=1876%2C89827194362%2C&A=details&Q= target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=1097672&gclid=Cj0KEQjwhbzABRDHw_i4q6fXoLIBEiQANZKGW1z_f5tgzmlxtlLkiNputMunAfQ5IzLaFLLBZSqGjGAaAqVW8P8HAQ&is=REG&ap=y&m=Y&c3api=1876%2C89827194362%2C&A=details&Q=/a

A: Hi Ari,This adaptor only works on lenses with a manual aperture lever. It will not control lenses that are 100% electronic. Check the rear of your lens to see if it has a small metal tab sticking out that slides when lightly pushed (there is a slot it moves in) and which will close down your aperture when moved. Lenses without this tab will not have aperture control with this adaptor as it is purely mechanical.

Q: 7. What is the function of the orange ring? I get that the red one adjusts aperture. Is that to change aperture clicked/de-clicked?

A: The orange ring is to add leverage to screw the mount onto the lens and camera body.

Q: 8. Does this also work with Nikon AF-D lenses (Like my 60mm 2.8 Micro or 50mm 1.8) and older Nikkor AI-S lenses?

A: From my understanding it will work with all Nikon Lenses, however you will only be able to use them manually. It has no electronic iris or autofocus motor pass through. If your lenses can be used manually with no electronic connections you'll be fine. The exposure ring allows you to control the iris on lenses that have mechanical auto exposure or older SLR lenses

Q: 9. Does it allow manual focus peaking? Thanks.

A: Yes it does manual focus peaking very well.

Q: 10. Does it matter where the adapter's iris is set when using a lens that already had a manual iris ring?

A: Yes the Iris ring on the adapter needs to be in the proper spot to in-gauge the Iris arm on the lens. This adapter does not have an iris itself but uses the lens iris instead. Nice adapter, if I had one complaint it would be that the adapter ring you use to adjust the lens iris takes a little getting use to as it is a bit thin but does have knurled spots to place your fingers.

This is updated from July. I have since tried three other vintage Nikkor-type lenses. A 24 mm f/2.8 Nikkor AI lens and a 105 mm f/2.8 micro-Nikkor AI lens both fit perfectly with the adapter with no wiggle on either end. the adapter has held up admirably. One lens that did not fit however was a Nikkor-Q 135 mm f/3.5. The reason is that the bayonette mount was recessed slightly by about 1/8 under a lip formed by the external lens casing. I know one can hacksaw the lip away and get a smooth fit, but I do not want to irreversibly modify the lens. I tried to attach pictures but the website keeps coughing them up. Just make sure the bayonette mount base and the lens casing are level to each other.

I bought this adapter to try out some of my father's legacy lenses with my DMC-G85 camera, to see if older lenses with sturdier quality gave better images then newer DSLR/DSLM lenses. The ornge aperture ring with obvious tactile interface (in case I got a lens without manual aperture control) and tripod mount were additional selling points. The fit to the adapter was snug with both my camera and my dad's 1959 Vivitar F-mount f5.6 300 mm telephoto lens; there was not appreciable wiggle or play. Assembly and disassembly were a snap. Mounting on the lens is most preferable, buy I may find that mounting through the adapter may be needed for shorter lenses. As shown in the paired images. The image quality is almost as good with the legacy lends (that appeared to be a bit brighter under full-light conditions) as with the digital lens (which gets help from focus assist even in manual mode), so I believe the mount is not hurting image quality at all. I am very happy with this purchase.

Using this on the BlackMagic Pocket Cinema camera. Nice smooth and snug fit to camera body. The de-clicked aperture ring operates the full range of F-stop's on my Nikon lenses. The foot is perfect for mounting on my tripods (I use the 1/4-20 hole to mount to my existing tripod foot since I don't use Arca). Keeps the lens weight from hanging off my camera body. Foot is removable via two recessed Phillips screws, but you need some small drivers. The interior is not flocked, but I have not seen any glare issues it's a very matte black.

They come in a cardboard box. Cool, I can always make a custom case. Very simple, STURDY design. This is what the people probably want to know. I searched for videos, reviews for this and there weren't too many. So took a chance. SOLID design. Using a GH4 to Nikon G lens, tight fit, no wiggling or disappointing manufacturing flaws. And this does have sharp focus. I would definitely recommend picking this adapter up.
