Armed with the Zoom U-24 portable 2x4 USB essential audio/MIDI interface, it's easy for musicians, songwriters, and producers to record two sources simultaneously to their computer, iPhone, or iPad, and integrate MIDI gear, too. At home, outside, or while traveling, the U-24's tactile controls and high-resolution 24-bit / 96 kHz converters help you capture your creativity with quality. Plus, it comes with Ableton Live Lite and the Steinberg Cubasis LE iPad app to provide the software you need to take your music from inspiration to a finished production.

The U-24 features two low-noise microphone preamps with switchable phantom power and XLR-1/4" combo jacks. Both preamps can handle mic or line inputs, and input 1 sports a Hi-Z switch for when you need to track an electric guitar or bass. Thanks to mix-adjustable zero-latency direct monitoring, stereo 1/4" main outs, four RCA line outputs, and a 1/4" headphone port, the U-24 can simultaneously feed speakers and headphones with independent volume control. The headphone output features its own balance knob, which lets you blend computer playback signals 1-2 and 3-4 for customizable cue mixes.

The bus-powered U-24 packs all the essential tools into a compact form factor that fits in the palm of your hand. Record with mics, instruments, and more at home or on the go—the U-24 is iPhone/iPad compatible and small enough to take anywhere. It can even run on just two AA batteries for recording in the most remote locations.

Proper connectivity and operation with an iPhone or iPad requires separately available accessories—two AA batteries or the Zoom AD-17 AC adapter for power, plus an Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit or a Lightning-to-USB Camera Adapter. A USB Type-B to Type-A cable is included for hookup to your Mac/Windows computer.

Inspired by the popular Zoom H-series recorders, the U-24 is equipped with high-performance low-noise mic preamps (-119.5 dB EIN) that enable recording and playback at resolutions up to 24-bit / 96 kHz. You can also use U-24 as a studio-quality headphone amp and listen to your favorite music in full fidelity.

The U-24 is equipped with an essential collection of inputs and outputs for streamlined recording. Two XLR/TRS combo inputs with independent gain knobs and multicolor level indicators allow you to connect mics, keyboards, mixers, and more. The 48V phantom power can be supplied to both inputs, and input 1 supports Hi-Z for connecting guitars, basses, or other passive instruments. MIDI input and output jacks allow you to use devices like keyboards, controllers, synthesizers, and drum machines.

Separate TRS and RCA output jacks provide multiple options for connecting DJ mixers, monitors, and other gear. Finally, an independent headphone output with dedicated volume control gives you complete flexibility while monitoring. Each output (1-2 and 3-4) also has its own mute button.

The U-24 has flexible monitoring options for dialing in the perfect mix with zero latency. Balance the cue and main out signals when you're DJing, or create a mix of click track and main out signals during live performances. Each connector and knob is strategically positioned for fast access, so you can set up and control the U-24 with ease.

Bundled with the U-24, Ableton Live 9 Lite is a powerful DAW program that lets you record tracks quickly and intuitively, enhancing them with studio-quality effects like EQ, compression, reverb, delay, chorus, filter, and more. Plus, Ableton's performance workflows let you take your music to the stage where you can mix and record live.

Cubasis LE, a 4-track audio recording/editing/mixing app for iPad with an intuitive touch user interface, is also included with the U-24.

A: It can be used for this purpose!

Q: 2. Are outputs 3/4 appear in the ASIO setup? Would like to setup a cue mix for click and backing track.

A: The only way you use a click track with this interface. Is to plug your instrument into input 1 and the click into input 2. Then record it into your DAW. Listening with the headphone out. But there is no way to do a proper cue mix with this interface.

A: Yes, in addition to operating with two AA batteries for power, the Zoom U-44 Portable 4x4 USB Handy Audio/MIDI Interface can be powered via USB bus power or by using a USB battery pack or with a 5V USB wall plug like you would use to charge a smartphone or tablet, and USB cable connected to the micro-USB port on the U-44.

There's more that one Zoom out there. The U-44 solved my problem with the the iMac 10.15.5 audio anti-feedback system that caused this old guy (with hearing loss) getting headphone signals of both incoming and outgoing audio during video conferencing. USB connection to the computer, no added drivers or apps needed. I use the U-44 with a phantom-powered Shure lavalier mic (A-D in) and any of several headphones (D-A out). No audio delay and adequate gain. Handy indeed.

Works great. The only thing to know is that you must plug the USB into the computer directly and not into a USB hub. If you plug into a hub the software won't see it!

The Zoom U-24 portable audio interface is easy to use with any DAW. The two inputs take XLR & 1/4 inch male plugs so you can record two electric guitars, or acoustic guitars, or one of each, or one with vocal at once. Also has midi in & out & headphone monitor. Very portable. Great for the price.

This Zoom U-44 is AMAZING. Perfect in many ways especially in the ability to use the Zoom mics directly connected to it.

Zoom comes through again. I have over the years purchased many audio interfaces from Roland Tascam Edirol and Cakewalk also Zoom. I must say Zoom is by far way ahead of the others in producing a low cost high quality interface for the home recording industry. I do a fair bit of traveling and on leaving town this time I forgot to pack an interface for my stay. As a rule I would carry a Zoom R8 or R16 or one of the other portables I have. I elected to order a Zoom U-44 from B7H and I'm happy I did. Their service was prompt and shipping was without an issue. I received my product on time as promised. With regard to the Zoom U-44. I'm really pleased with this unit to say the least. I has Win 10 x64 and x32 drivers. Its both an analog and digital unit. Best of all it can be used stand alone as a preamp using battery power. The U-44 sound quality is exceptional and I would say equal to their R8 and R16 units. This unit works well with all my DAWs including Sonar Reason Fl Studio Reaper etc. One thing I must say that Zoom has going for it is continued driver support. Again I have several Zoom units and all have Win 10 drivers available. Wish I could say that for my really expensive Roland and Novation equipment great gear but short support life. I recommend this unit for anyone wanting a good quality audio midi interface with digital ins and outs. It is really great bang for my buck. John, Home Studio Producer

This is a well built piece of equipment. The two channels work great and the expansion slot makes everything better. It's small for folks on the go and can be easily used as a PC Audio interface or, alternatively, used in conjunction with a handheld recorder (with line-in,) or a camera (also with line-in or Mic.) Flexibility to be wireless (option to run on batteries) and phantom power to boot. It makes mobile podcasting a breeze which is my primary use. Pair it with a mixer for more flexibility and capturing live performances. It's really right there in the name. It's HANDY!
