I call it pull and pluck foam. I use it in my 1510 Pelican case to protect my expensive ham radio equipment. First you place your gear on top in the best configuration, then you simply pluck the foam out to perfectly hold your gear. If I want to change it in the future, I can simply buy more foam for my case. It's pretty inexpensive. 5

Pelican cases are so tough the contents changes before the case wears out. This foam replacement changed my light case into a camera case. I traces around the cameras with a sharpie and cut the foam with a long bladed razor knife. The foam cuts easily with a sharp knife and allow for a more precise fit and even some curved cuts. Shaving the edges of the opening to fine tune makes for a clean cut. Carefully shaving indentations for the Arca Swiss plate in the lower level finished off the height adjustment. 5
