The Rodenstock 67mm HR Digital Circular Polarizer Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, multiple layers of anti-reflection coating are included. These coatings also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and help it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The coatings associated with HR Digital filters results in an improved beading effect when in contact with water or oil for greater cleaning efficiency.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. Before being set within a thin brass filter ring that minimizes the potential for vignetting while enhancing durability and jamming prevention, the sides of its glass are blackened to help further eliminate internal ghosting and reflections from occurring along the filter's edge.

Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface

Polarizing filters arrange, and filter, directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light

Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors

Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun

Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features

Multi-coated to prevent internal ghosting and reflections

.45x filter factor reduces exposure by 1.5 stops

Constructed from optical glass and thin brass filter ring helps to prevent vignetting, jamming, and provides additional strength

Before being set within the filter ring, the sides of the filter glass are blackened to help further prevent internal ghosting and reflections from occurring along the filter's edge

Plastic filter case for storage and transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this clear on the canon 17-120mm PL mount lens?

A: The Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter (112mm) would work with the 112mm filter connection of this lens. If you were looking for a clear filter though here is a good quality option. Clear - https://bhpho.to/3yyBCeK

Q: 2. Will this fit on a Nikon 16-35mm f/1.4 ed?

A: No, this is 67mm thread size, for Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR Lens you will need Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter (77mm) https://bhpho.to/4cabz0s.

Q: 3. Need circular polarizing lens for DSLR Nikon D5600 camera. These are the details printed on the lens: Nikon DX VR, AF-P NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 G; is this polarizing lens compatible for my lense?

A: As the Nikon AF-P DX Nikkor 18-55mm F3.5-5.6G VR Lens uses 55mm filter threads, yes, the Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter (55mm) is compatible for use with your Nikon AF-P DX Nikkor 18-55mm F3.5-5.6G VR Lens.

Q: 4. will this filter fit a Sigma 17-50mm?

A: Yes this filter is compatible with the Sigma 17-50mm lens.

Q: 5. What is the thickness of this 82mm CPL excluding male threads?

A: 5mm the brass

Q: 6. What type of material is the ring made from? Aluminum or brass?

A: The Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter Ring is aluminum.

Q: 7. When using this polarizing filter on my D7100 with 18-105 or my 70-200 lenses and with a UV filter you rotate it and then can see the affect in the viewfinder from light to near dark. What should it be rotated to ? ie what result is achieved? Also, with the lens hood on it is difficult to rotate the filter but I assume I am to rotate it for the desired affect to be achieved? Or does this camera automatically adjust for the filter?

A: You rotate a circular polarizer to achieve a bluer sky or to cut glare from reflective surfaces. The camera will not automatically adjust for the filter, since this is a totally mechanical action. You should rotate the filter until the effect you are looking for has been achieved.

Q: 8. will this fit on my Nikkor 17-55mm 1:2.8 G ED Lens?

A: No, you will need the 77mm filter for this lens: https://bhpho.to/2GxPTyj

Q: 9. Will it fit on Sony Alpha cameras?

A: It depends on your lens. If your lens has a 72mm filter thread, it will fit.

Q: 10. Will this fit on a Tokina 11-16 mm?

A: The Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter (77mm) will fit the Tokina atx-i 11-16mm f/2.8 CF Lens for Canon EF.

No complaints. Purchased a cheaper one with decent reviews and returned it.Quality if the PP is worth the money.

I loved this CP, it works great and the quality is top notch. My only observation is that is a bit overpriced.

Works great. Seems to work on par with the BW filter I was using before I dropped and broke it. If using a wide angle lens, you'll need to remove your UV filter or you'll get some significant vignetting at your widest angle. You may still even get a little bit. I was shooting at 16mm and was getting just a bit of vignetting from the filter. I do like that there's a marking on the filter so you can use that as a benchmark for where to place it without having to look through the viewfinder.

After returning a cheaper filter, I was looking for something more substantial and didn't feel flimsy. This has a good amount of heft and feel. The filter screws on much smoother as well. Polarization does the job perfectly with no noticeable dark spots or uneven transition.

So to start this off, the usual problems I have with CPL's is blurriness, color shifting, threading being hard to take on and off, and huge fall offs of light into my lens. This PolarPro CPL has none of that! The first thing I noticed was how easily it threaded on and off. No binding onto my lens, the rotation of the filter is firm enough to stay put when I need it to, but smooth when I rotate. The color shift is minimal and easily correctable with WB and light drop off is maybe just barely even close to a third stop. This product has sold me on PolarPro's line of filter and I will be sticking with them for my career. Other notes on this product it comes with a hard case and softcase that are externally labelled as to what they are, so no need to label for in your bag storage.

I used this with my Q3 and loved the “magic” it produces with a bright sunny day and reflections. Keep in mind its usage, this is intended mainly for bright environments so be ready to take it off for indoor or dark scenes. The built quality is premium and I enjoy using it
