Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the shelf life of an unopened set of ink and also when in use?

A: If properly sealed, the ink should easily last for more than a year when stored appropriately. As for opened ink, the cartridges should be installed, and the Canon large format printer should be left on. That way the Canon large format printer will perform an electronic nozzle check periodically to maintain the cartridge. It uses only a small amount of ink to do that, and that process does keep the ink fresh and usable indefinitely. (Please note that this comment does not necessarily apply to non Canon or non large format printers.)

Q: 2. Will the cartridges be available in the pack only or individually also, please?

A: Yes, this cartridges are also available in singles. Here's the link for the list. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?q=Canon%20PFI-300&filters=fct_brand_name%3Acanon

Q: 3. Can I mix different size cartridges? Especially 700ml and smaller 110ml cartridges? I use a lot of black ink and much less of the colored inks.

A: Yes. As the smaller tanks ran out I added the larger ones. I still have one small left. There doesn't seem to be any issue with the different sizes. in

Q: 4. Is there any problem shipping this in freezing outdoor winter temperatures, where it might be left outside for hours before getting home to take it indoors. I am talking about temperatures in the 10-30 degree F range?

A: I've had some left outside in both hot and cold weather. I would NEVER install while the cartridge is icy cold. Wait until it slowly warms up to room temperature (wait a day). Give it a little extra agitation (shake it so you are sure it's mixed - which you should do anyway as part of Canon's recommendation).

Q: 5. What is the shelf-life unopened?

A: Unopened ink should last 2 years if stored in a cool dark, and safe space.

Q: 6. Is there an expiration date on the ink cartridges. If so, how long do they typically last? Need this to decide whether to go with 330ml or 700 ml.

A: Ink cartridges will usually have a manufacturing date as opposed to an expiration date (some may). The general idea is that cartridges are good for up to 18 months after manufacturing. Keeping cartridges in their sealed packaging prevents them from drying out.

Q: 7. What is the shelf life of Canon PFI-1300 ink? In other words how long can I store a new sealed tank before it goes bad?

A: These inks have a shelf life of 18-24 months.

Q: 8. Will the Canon PFI-1300 cartridge, designed for the Pro-4000 work in the Pro-4100?

A: The Canon PFI-1300 Yellow Pigment Ink Tank (BH #CAPFI1300Y) is compatible with the Canon imagePROGRAF Pro-4100 Printer.

Q: 9. As a very rough approximation, how many full color 8x10 pages could be printed with one ink set?

A: This printer hasn't been available yet nor is the ink. The ink tanks have 14.4 ml in each tank which is .4 of a mil more than the ink of its predecessor the Canon Pro 10 14 ml tanks. It all depends on the colors & density of each print, for example: you might use 2 magentas b4 you finish 1 cyan & some prints have lighter backgrounds. Even Canon can't give you an approximate answer & only experience will tell. The print quality of these printers are 'out of this world' so even if prints are a bit pricey it pays off by far.

Q: 10. What's the expiration timeframe on the unused inks?

A: Inks usually have a 2 year shelf life from manufacture date if still sealed. once open it's recommended to use within 6 months or latest 1 year.
