Rokinon Cine Ds 5 Lens Kit With Nikon F Mount

For mirrorless shooters, or anyone that needs to cover a Super35 sized sensor, this Rokinon 16mm T2.2 Cine DS Lens utilizes a multi-layer coating process for consistent color rendition from lens to lens. With consistent coatings the lens answers the challenge of assembling a set of lenses over time. The lens comes in Nikon F mount, and it features industry standard geared focus and iris rings that share common position with other Rokinon Cine DS lenses.

To aid focus pullers who have to work both sides of the lens, the aperture and focus scales are marked on both sides of the lens. A removable petal shaped lens hood provides flare protection when shooting without a matte box, and the lens's threaded front accepts 77mm filter rings.

This 16mm lens produces 83.1° angle of view when used with a camera with an APS-C sensor. Hybrid aspherical lenses render sharply defined images with a minimum of distortion and chromatic aberrations and feature a minimum focus distance of 7.9"' from the lens.

Ultra Multicoated lenses minimize flare and ghosting, and the lenses are color matched to a standard eliminating the need to acquire an entire set of lenses at the same time.

Features industry-standard gearing for focus and aperture rings. Each lens in the Rokinon DS series shares common focus and iris gear ring positions, which speeds up lens changes as accessories, such as follow focus units or iris motors, don't have to be re-positioned.

The lens features an internal focus mechanism, so the front of the lens doesn't rotate when changing focus, allowing you to use filters and clip-on matte boxes without vignetting as you change (pull) focus.

The lens features an 8-bladed iris that provides round out-of-focus highlights and a natural-looking Bokeh. The declicked aperture ring allows for smooth iris pulls.

A removable lens hood provides flare protection without a matte box.

The lens opens up to T2.2, providing the capability for low light shooting or creating a shallow depth of field.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are these lenses suitable for 4k with something like the FS7?

A: Yes they are. The included 14, 24, 35, 50, 85 and 135mm Cine DS lenses are full frame and will easily cover the Super 35mm Sensor on the Sony FS7. You will be able to shoot great 4k footage with the FS7 and this lens kit.

Q: 2. i have the 50mm cine lens , what is the possibility for change the deal with the same group of lensses but changing the 50mm to any other cine lens ?

A: If you have had the lens less than 30 days, you can apply for a refund from B&H Customer Service and then apply that refund to the purchase of another lens.

Q: 3. The lens hoods may be great for still photography but as a cinematographer I will be using with a mat box and it looks like they are very long and will get in the way. Are the lens hoods removable on all of the lenses?

A: Yes they are, and they are my biggest con with these lenses. Coupled with the 85 being a different thread size, my 77mm filters have to go on a step up ring to work on it. Which means no lens hood and filters at the same time. Shouldn't be a problem with your matte box.

Q: 4. Do these lenses have a hard stop?

A: Yes, these use T-stops, as per inherent design of proper cine lenses.

Q: 5. How is the warranty/exhange works for the set? I read on the other sources like Amazon that some of the Rokinon lens samples are soft. If such a issue happend can I replace just one lens or will need to replace full set which is obviously may come to the issue with another lens in the set again.

A: It is our understanding Rokinon would require the set to be returned.

Q: 6. How do these cine lenses fare for fashion and art photography. Also does anyone know how well they would work the Sony Alpha a7rii with the metabones adaptor?

A: Cine lenses, even these affordable ones, have some criteria that are higher than still lenses. In regard to these Rokinon's that means the T Stop on one lens lets in the exact amount of light on all of them. F/stops on still lenses vary from one lens to the other. Also these are uniformly coated to have the same color and flare control in all the lenses. In addition to these two features, the lenses are uniformly sharp. Therefore they will work image wise for any type of photography. Keep in mind however, these are manual only. In the heat of still photo battle, I would think you will miss the instant button push of focus and aperture control.

Q: 7. can I use a Nikon d7100 with these lenses

A: Yes you can. These are Nikon F Mount lenses and they will work great with the D7100.

Q: 8. In the product highlights above, it says Covers full-frame sensors. If you use these lenses on a Sony FS700, which has a super 35mm sensor, will there be in vignetting in your video footage?

A: Full Frame sensors are nominally 24mm x 35mm in size which creates an image diagonal of 43.3mm. For a lens to cover Full Frame it must create an image at least that size in order not to vignette. Since a Super35 frame is nominally 24mm x 14mm in size with an image diagonal of 27.31mm, you can see a lens that covers Full Frame easily covers the Super35 frame.

Q: 9. I have Panasonic GH4 with Metabones for EF lenses. Does Rokinon with EF mounts better then MFT mounts? (there are no review on MFT mounts)

A: I'd preffer the MFT mounting if I'd use it in a GH4/GH5 camera.

Q: 10. Will these lenses work with Black Magic Micro Cinema Camera?

A: Yeah for sure. Just make sure you buy the Micro Four Thirds lens bundle
