Realize the full potential of your flash setup by adding wireless triggering and control with the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Transmitter. Compatible with Sony's ADI / P-TTL flash system and equipped with a 2.4 GHz radio transmission system, the Odin II will communicate and trigger receivers or radio-capable flash units at distances up to 328'. To further benefit users, it can be used in a multi-system setup that involve Odin TTL, Strato, and Strato II receivers as well as Mitros+, Indra360, and Indra 500 lights. A major improvement over the previous model is an expansion of channels and the introduction of the Digital ID which gives further control over channels 5-32 to eliminate interference with other systems.

Embracing TTL communication between the camera and flash, automatic exposures can easily be made and more advanced users can take advantage of manual power and zoom control to dial in the exact look they need. Using the five groups, users can also control different groups and flashes with varying settings as well as mix and match TTL and manual units. All of this is easily accessed via the large LCD screen along with direct access buttons for the groups and a rotary dial for quickly adjusting settings.

Additional features include both high-speed sync for TTL flashes as well as the proprietary OverDrive Sync mode for manual studio strobes, both of which allow users to work at shutter speeds up to 1/8000 second. Also, users will be able to remotely control the modeling light of their Indra TTL strobes as well as use an AF assist light when needed. And, it has a mini-USB port for firmware updates. This model is directly compatible with Sony cameras using the Multi Interface Shoe. Cameras that use the older Auto-Lock Accessory Shoe can use an optional adapter to achieve compatibility.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can it trigger the new Nikon sb 5000 without using a receiver?

A: I don't believe it will. I'm pretty sure you will need one of Phottix's Receivers to actually make it work. I use Canon Flashes and I had to use the Strato II receiver to make it work. I'm confident it will work with any of their receivers. I will be honest, I haven't tried it with the newest Canon Flash with the built in Receiver. The product description lists the compatible triggers, but doesn't mention flashes with built in receivers. I will say the Odin II is a fantastic product that is easy to use and has done everything it is advertised to do. I'm loving it!

Q: 2. Will this work with my SB-910 with no additional receivers?

A: The Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Receiver for Nikon, BH # PH89067 would need to be attached to the SB-910 in order to be triggered by the Odin II transmitter.

Q: 3. What is the latest version of firmware and where do I download it?

A: The latest firmware at this time for the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Transmitter for Canon is, "Z". The link for that is, https://bhpho.to/49buebi.

Q: 4. With Phottix and Elinchrom merging technologies, will this system be able to control Elinchrom's new ELB system AND Nikon Speedlights simultaneously? ie. multi system functionality? Will there be TTL on the horizon for Elinchrom's ELB (and other Elinchrom strobes?

A: I wouldn't call it merging technologies. Phottix worked with Elinchrom to create the Skyport HS. Hardware is the Phottix Laso. Firmware by Elinchrom. Very nice job. I expect to see more collaborations like this. Stay tuned. Then Elinchrom worked with Sekonic to make the new 478DR-U-EL with Skyport triggering and power control. Using the three pieces together is a rather amazing experience. An IGBT circuit is necessary to do TTL properly. Elinchrom has not used one in their flashes yet. As far as using Elinchrom with a Nikon, not this year.

Q: 5. Does it control and work with Phottix's own Laso receivers?

A: No. Unit will only work with the following systems Odin, Strato II, and Atlas II, Indra, Mitros, units.

Q: 6. with Phottix Odin II TTL Flash trigger can control zoom head in Nikon speed light SP 910 ?

A: Yes.

Q: 7. The LumoPro LP180Rs worked with the original Odin, but I cant find anything saying that they will work with the new one. I'm assuming they will as the Odin II is backwards compatible, but my question is; will all the other features work? Ie HSS, Remote power control, etc...

A: I have purchased the Phottix Odin II and I have three speedlights. 2 Nikon SB-700s and a LumoPro LP180R and it works just fine. When I need to use all three flashes, I just change the channel to 1-4 on the Odin II Transmitter/Receivers for that shoot. Also, as a test I turned off the receiver in the LP180R and mounted on the Odin II receiver and that works as well. It is good to have options. I will unload my original Odin set Transmitter & 2 Receivers and may include the LP180R to sweeten the deal. George G.

Q: 8. Hi, I've tried contacting Phottix and searched for hours on the net but can't find an answer. What light meter can I use for the Odin II? I can't find this answer anywhere. Will Phottix or Sekonic make a compatible litemaster or will Phottix create a firmware version that will work with the Sekonic for the Strato II?? Thanks

A: As the Sekonic Guy I can't begin to tell you how much I would LOVE to make a Power Control meter for Odin II. The design of the Odin system does not permit it. The PocketWizard system gives the Receivers a Memory of settings made by the meter. Then when a trigger signal is sent, the lights fire at the power level memorized by the PW Flex receiver. The new Elinchrom version for the 478DR actually changes the flash power setting on the flash with each tap on the meter. This is the Skyport system. The Odin receiver has NO memory in it. A fresh power level is sent from the transmitter with each trigger signal. There is no way to make settings from the meter that will be maintained. That said, the strato signal is common to all Phottix triggers (except Ares). So Channels 1234 and Groups ABCD set on an ODIN II would trigger a Strato II receiver set for the same. Mitros+ and Indra lights can also be set to receive a Strato signal which is why the Sekonic L-478DR-U-PX is designed on the Strato signal. Adding the power control capability shared between the meter and the Phottix Odin system will require more than a firmware upgrade. You can use any of the 478 meters in 'Cordless mode to get a flash measurement. Hope that helps.

Q: 9. Has anyone used this with the Nikon D3s? What is the reliability like in manual mode? Any misfires? I'm using the SB800 flash.

A: The Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Transmitter for Nikon should be compatible for use with the Nikon D3s DSLR camera in both i-TTL automatic exposure mode and manual mode. However, it will not communicate directly with a Nikon SB-800 Speedlight Flash. You would need to purchase the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Receiver for Nikon, B&H # PH89067 (MFR # PH89067), onto which you may connect the Nikon SB-800 so it may communicate wirelessly with the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Transmitter for Nikon. Unfortunately, do note that the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Receiver for Nikon, B&H # PH89067 (MFR # PH89067), has since been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase new.

Q: 10. Is there a way to use this trigger to fire a Wescott FJ400 or FJ200?

A: The Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Transmitter for Canon is not directly compatible for use with the Westcott FJ400 400Ws Strobe or the Westcott FJ200 Strobe. If you wish to use the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger with the aforementioned Westcott strobes, you may purchase the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Receiver for Canon, B&H # PH89072, to use as a wireless receiver, along with the PocketWizard MM1 Miniphone to Miniphone Cable -12", B&H # WICMM16, to connect the Odin II receiver to the Westcott strobes. However, do note that you would have to set the flash output power manually as there would be no TTL automatic communication between the Phottix triggers and the Westcott strobes. For full compatibility, it is recommended to use the Westcott FJ-X2m Universal Flash Trigger for FJ400 Strobe, B&H # WEFJX2MUWLFT, for your usage needs.

Major upgrade over the original Odin Trigger. Much easier to make adjustments quickly. Very easy to read and more channels. This is a must have for Nikon shooters to have flash off camera. I use it with my Nikon Speedlights and I also have a Phottix Indra 500. Very nice!

I was searching for years a way to get my 30 years old Comet PMT 1200W battery pack flash on the road with my DSLR for outside portrait. The Hasselblad (film camera at the time) allowed my to get a shallow depth of field because of the 1/500 sync and the medium format lens with a shallower depth of field than 35 mm optics at the same aperture. But with a DSLR syncing at 1/200 (Canon 5d series), if I wanted to underexpose the ambient light with a bright sunny day, I was ending up at f/11-16 not that much of a bokeh.. ; ) When I learned about the Phottix Odin II combo I gave it a try As usual I received my order in Canada way before expected (2 days..and it's free.. ; ) Unpacked the transmitter and receiver, read the instructionsthe older I get the more I read.. ; ) And without having to play with the ODS (adjustment to find your optimum high speed sync with another flash than Canon or Nikon), it synced my 30 years old Comet up 1/8000 right out of the box I went outside the next day to test it with a bright sunny day (B&H doesn't provide one on arrival of my gear.. ; ) and asked my kid to ride his electrical scooter as fast as he could..1/8000 later, I think I have a winner, big time ! Yes I'm sure that it won't be as crisp as a high sync speed Broncolor or another Elinchrom or whatever is now the king pin of flash duration, but for $400 it sure revive my 30 years old Comet that is now going for another 30 years of service ! B&H your rock !

Love it, 5 zones, don't need a computer to change channels now if they would just make receiver for Einsteins.

Works well with Sony A77ii and Mitros+ TTL transceiver flash. There are other less expensive options for controlling multiple off camera flashes with Sony cameras, but this combination works well with both TTL and manual settings. You can set up for either TTL or manual directly from the Odin II flash trigger and not have to run around to your separate off camera flashes.

Works great with Sony a99. Triggers older Odin receivers. Adjust flash power from transmitter. Very convenient and works as expected. Recommend!

Excellent product. Utilizing a radio vs optical system allows me to focus on creative aspects of the shoot rather than worrying about placement of trigger and receiver so they can see each other. For me this is an upgrade from the previous Phottix version which also worked great. I primarily upgraded so I don't have to use an adapter and I like the way this version sits on the camera better.

I've used the Odin I system for some time now and have been very happy with the system to date. It's reliable, easy to configure and just works. When the Odin II came out I was looking forward to the use of 5 groups (vs. 3 with the Odin I). With the Odin II the configurability is even easier. What genius it was to place a row of buttons just below the screen that give quick access to each group. Turning the power on/off, adjusting levels, etc. is so much quicker. And the screen shows just which groups are ON/OFF and in what mode. You can mix TTL and manual modes which gives great freedom to creativity. I've got a mix of Indra500's and Canon flashes that all play well together. The Odin II is a great referee. Keep in mind that when mixing Odin I receivers with the Odin II transmitter that you only have 3 available groups. If you use the Odin II and Indra500's solely, then the sky's the limit. This holds true also if you use the Odin II receivers. The beauty of this system is that you can have a blend of new and old flashes. Your investment in older technology is not put into the trash bin.

I used to have he original Odin. I upgraded and am so happy to have done so. Not only do I not need the hotshoe adapter anymore, the ttl is improved and the ergonomics make this a joy to use with my Indra500 and Mitros+ speed lights.
