Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I hope my question isn't too specialized - I will be grateful for an educated guess. I am using a Fuji XT-3 to shoot video. I have used an HDMI cable to run an external monitor (just a cheap desktop monitor) and, separately, to control an audio recorder's start/stop (the Sound Devices MixPre-3 ii). Of course I want to do both at the same time and this device looks like it might enable me to do that. Does this setup have a fair chance of working?

A: This something you'd need to test out to see the results, but we would tend to think a product like this would not pass the needed info to trigger the start/stop recording through HDMI.

Q: 2. Will this pass 144Hz at 1440p?

A: unit offers the following transmission bandwidths Video Format HDMI UHD 4K: 60 fps Bandwidth 25 MHz to 600 MHz

Q: 3. Does this product mirror or extend the monitors?

A: This product will mirror the input it is given. It accepts a single HDMI and it will split that same image out to 4 locations.

Q: 4. Will this product create a new HDMI source?

A: This product takes in a single HDMI signal and turns it in to two HDMI signals.

Q: 5. Max length of HDMI cable supported?

A: The manufacturer does not explicitly define this specification, but we would lean on the side of caution and keep the maximum length under 25 feet.

Q: 6. Can you set the EDID of this to 23.98 at any of it's resolutions?

A: We were not able to get a confirmation from Gefen. Still, we believe it can do what you wish. Here is a link to the manual. https://bit.ly/2rvUPM5

Q: 7. ideally, i have 8 monitors that will form 1 large display. can this splitter project 1 small screen display source to the 8 monitors as 1 big screen?

A: Sorry, no, it cannot work that way. All this would do is give you 8 separate videos at the same time. For an affordable video wall solution you could use 4 HD TV's and make one image with this controller. Gefen HD Video Wall Controller B&H # GEHDVWC144 (-----Copy and Paste this number to the B&H website search box and click Go. )

Q: 8. Will this work with a video camera 1080P 60fps output including 2 channel audio?

A: Yes, and will support UHD 4K60 (3840 x 2160).

Q: 9. can I take 1 out put to TV and the other to a sound bar ?

A: The MuxLab 1x2 UHD 4K HDMI Splitter (B&H # MU100500) may be used with both a television and a sound bar simultaneously.

Q: 10. Will this splitter reset all outputs when a new devise is attached to the output?

A: I agree with Jan on this. It's not always consistent. I find that if the device is powered (like a gopro) it picks it right up. If it's a mini recorder, or a device that runs off of another units power (thunderbolt from a macbook) it might not pick it up.
